Before I write about this orphan beauty, let me throw some light on the history of the place.
History of Manali is just like a fairy tale that is steeped more in myth. The existence of Manali can be traced back to the folklore of Mahabharata. The name'Manali' literally means the abode of Manu. When Manu and other Gods were flooded, they were saved by the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu by towering high to dry lands. Manali is the place where Manu found refuge. Back in the 17th century, Raja Jagat Singh brought the idol of Lord Raghunathji to his throne and till now, he is the presiding deity and king of Manali.
Then came the Britishers…They made this beautiful land their choice for staying during the summer months. They brought forth the apple orchards and trout fishing to Manali that largely shaped the economy of this place. It was the British people settling here, which developed Manali as a tourist destination.
The recent history of Manali was stained during the seventies and eighties with the cultivation of marijuana that attracted the development of a hippie culture that was looked down by the conventional tourists. However, with the rise of turmoil in the Kashmir valley, the tourists started returning to Manali as the landscape and immense beauty of the two places match each other.
Yes now here we go on yet another criss crossed typically my kind of unplanned trip…to this place…….THE WHISPERING ROCKS….{PICS POSTED AROUND 4/5 MONTHS BACK PLZ SURF MY PICS GALLERY}
Although I have stayed in many * rated properties in manali……Span resorts, vivindi, kanishka, holliday cottage, tree house(kullu)
But this one has impressed me a lot…now the question is why I am calling it the ORPHAN BAEUTY
The management{the ski resorts) could sue me for this.
I am not scared. Why would i.I mean such a beautiful piece of land is going waste?
Friends as soon as you cross the entire mall [although we have a very small congested area known as the mall]
And head for the rohtaang pass…this resort is around 8 kms away. At PALCHAN
We stayed twice in this resort & both the times took the cottage, as it comes with a huge wooden machaan(balcony).the room is like the hunters cabin…wooden ceiling fire place lazy chair…though it was a big room but the way it was done it gave the feeling of small compact cozy room….the bed was fantastic king sized with 18” thick spring mattress…with side board n lamps….bathroom was neat n modern with multi spray shower and bath tub….
(Huge to play in)……….lol…
But the real beauty was the surrounding. All lush green Apple orchard corn fields. And for the adventures at heart they have a trek to the only water fall in manali town…the hotel provides you with the guide as well.(Risky during monsoons, as the walking strip is a bit narrow, steep with vegetation on one side and Beas(river) on the other). We went there, it was real fun….with Fahad on my back
They have gym lots of indoor games and a play area for the kids with swigs toy train and a pool……….with boat…….
The restaurant is good. Actually it’s the best place to sit around in this hill town
Food is not that great . The wait is there as they serve fresh….One thing which I really liked was the combo of fried rice and chilly chicken
In a nutshell this place is the best in entire valley but miss managed…the ski resort people have big dreams to convert this project as the best ski facility of our country
But are facing obstacle from our politics….which is killing this project.
Best season to visit is July-late August then from December - February
IT MAY COME TO THE READERS AS SURPRISE.AS THEIR ARE NEGATIVE WRITINGS ABOUT THIS PRODUCT IN HERE
but I would suggest that please visit the property then decide for it or against it.As I am like! if we are going on vacation then all what counts is the purpose. That should be solved. We go to the hills to rejuvenate our selves, to witness the nature n its beauty/offering.Comfort/peace of mind and your body..friends all of that is present at "The whispering rocks".Its a complete package.
