Have you ever heard of inanimate objects getting attached to something? Well my BPL Refrigerator was extremely attached to my previous home. Everyday at regular intervals I would see pool of tears, I was tired of its continuous weeping and thought of relegating it to my previous home. Now one would wonder why a Refrigerator would get attached to a house. It so happened that the arrival of my new fridge was timed with our Grihapravesh. The fridge forged a strong bond with the house. Can you think of life without a refrigerator? I cannot do without one. God always help those who help themselves, I got a lovely opportunity in form of my Hubby’s Birthday. We decided to gift him a Refrigerator this time too as the previous one was also bought on his birthday nine years back.
So we zoomed to my favourite store Croma, Vashi. After seeing several different refrigerators we zeroed on Whirlpool Professional FF Elite 45. We chose a 445 litre capacity fridge which is more than sufficient for a family of three. It comes in four colours Carbon, Graphite, Inox and Steel. Only Carbon was available for display. I chose it, as it would be a perfect contrast for the Red and Cream colour scheme of my Kitchen. I got the delivery next day itself and I was glad to get rid of my Crying Baby Fridge.
This model has spacious Freezer as well as the Refrigerator portion is of optimal size, just what I required. This fridge comes with a new technology called 6th Sense Tower Cooling System. When there is a change in the temperature outside and the load inside, the Powerful Sensors with Advanced Microprocessor automatically senses and makes cooling adjustments. I usually keep it on Auto Cool, so I don’t have to make adjustments everytime. There is a small panel on the freezer door to set cooling options. There are four cooling options Cool, Mid Cool, Hi Cool and Super Cool which you can set depending upon your needs. The settings are very simple, one doesn’t need to be a Techie to make them.
IF you do not open the freezer and refrigerator door for 24 hrs then it automatically goes into power saving mode. You can go out of station yet have a peace of mind with regard to power consumption. You have a party at home, you have run out of ice and none of your neighbor can provide you with the same, you need not panic, the Ice Accelerator comes in handy(yet to try this). It makes Ice super quick as well as the water gets chilled at a faster rate.
Another feature that I love is the Door Alarm that buzzes if any of the door is left open for two minutes. This is a boon to a forgetful person like me. The tiny blue indicator on the panel looks like a small bindi when it is reflected on the opposite glass window.
This model is a sleek one with good looks oops I mean finish. It has two handles one each for the freezer and refrigerator. I wonder why there are no locks on refrigerators nowadays. It has easy to clean surface. One major drawback I found in all the new Refrigerators was the absence of Mesh on the Compressor unit, easily accessible for rats to play havoc with the wiring. Now enough of superficial admiration lets peep( I hope this word is not copyrighted) inside.
The large freezer has a Flexichillsection where I can chill bottles( just remember not to chill bottles for a long time as they may explode) or push removable tray back to store other items. It is a freezer within a freezer. The two bins contribute to good storage space in the door. Lot of thinking has gone into designing the storage space.
Now comes the interior of the fridge. It looks or rather is very spacious, the entire space is washed with white light instead of the usual garish yellow one. Even the items stored inside will feel romantic ;) There are three adjustable Toughened Glass shelves which I hate. I preferred those grill shelves as they were easy to maintain. These glass shelves become dirty too soon and needs too frequent cleaning.
The Crisper where you store vegetables is big enough to store all the veggies that you may need for a week. I prefer two separate trays instead of a single big one but alas I can never have all that I want. I got stuck with a single monster of a tray. The Crisper is covered with a special sanitized silver Anti-Bacteria Coating that is rumoured to keep in check the bacterial growth upto 99.99%. It comes with a Freshonizer that absorbs any emissions from decaying fruits/veggies. It keeps falling everytime so I have relegated it on the floor and it may lie there forever and that forever is six months after that it needs replacement. Lo aur ek kharcha ..lol
The Chiller too has adequate storage and works very efficiently. I have started storing all the ground masala paste in it as I belong to an area where we suffer from severe power cuts.
Now comes the turn of those curvy doors. The four Bins on the door are designed in such way that there is a different storage area available for various storage needs. You can easily keep a two litre bottle or a half litre bottle without them falling every time you open the door. There are bottle holders which prevent the bottles from falling. There is an additional Can Holder which holds three cans but I have ustilised it to keep all the flavor and essence bottles. There is an additional Egg Holding Tray which holds upto a dozen eggs.
Have I left anything? There is a set of assorted containers, jugs, bottles which change colour upon cooling which comes as a freebie. Touchwood there have been no hiccups till now, lemme go and take a peek into my fridge now.
