Best place in Kerala to visit if you want to spend time in a hill station in south India. Actually, I went to Wayanad thrice in the last 2 years. But the first time when I went to Wayanad along with my batchmates. The trip to Wayanad was awesome and amazing. My local friend from Kerala planned the trip. The book the Volvo 10 seater private vehicle.
So morning at 5 am driver came with the vehicle and we went for 1st Kerala trip. The vehicle was awesome. It was fitted with different coloured light, television and sound system. Some of my friends started dancing in the Volvo itself.
The first sight was around 80 km from starting point. The Lakkidi point we reached. It's beside the road while travelling from Kattangal to Wayanad. It is above the hill where you can see clouds below you and road down there. The morning view was awesome there. We spend 30 min there in between we are taking some good pictures of us. It is a good point to capture the picture.
So after that, we move forward for our next destination i.e. Pookad lake. Lake was awesome surround by hills. The management of the lake was also good. They provide boating services in a lake. The charges of boating service were affordable it's around 200 rupees per person for an hour. There is an aquarium museum in which you can see different and strange fishes.
We spend 2 hours thereafter that we went to Banasura dam. This place is average according to me. You have to walk for around 1 km to reach the point to see the dam. There is some service available like horse riding, jet boating, ropeway slider which you can enjoy for your amusement. You can get some refreshments up there.
After that, we went to a Meenmutty waterfall. In that place, you have to do trekking to reach a point where you can take bath. So all of my friends started taking baths without any delay. It was such a relief after a long travelled day.
After that, we again go upward to see more in that place. The ropes are there for your support in some areas. The waterfall was amazing and that the last destination of 1st day.
The next day we went for Edakkal caves. We have to do more trekking and in some parts, stairs are provided. Caves were isn't great but it's good to see. In the cave, you can see the script is done by ancient people with the help of rock.
After that, we went for a waterfall but different from yesterday's one. Soochipara waterfall we reached after visiting caves.
The waterfall was truly amazing. To reach you have to buy the ticket and walk-in downward slope around 800 meters. In this waterfall, you can take enjoyment of taking baths.
This waterfall is crowded with most of the tourists. You can enjoy bathe but taking care of slippery rocks. You can go directly down to the waterfall to enjoy yourself. We had to spend the maximum time of the day there. This was the most amazing waterfall I had seen it. After this, we had ended our trip with this.
There are more places left in Wayanad but time was not there. Someplace Kurwa Dweep, Kathanpara waterfall, and wildlife sanctuary were remaining unvisited.
From that day I love to go to Wayanad again.
Truly the best hill station with more sightseeing places more than I expected.
I recommend it a must place to visit if you are planning to visit south India especially Kerala.
