Dravid wants to lead the Indian side badly. Review on Was Rahul Dravid justified in declaring the Indian innings - Case For 'No'

'In Ganguly's absence, Rahul Dravid will continue to lead the side' Dileep Premachandran quoted in his article after the end of the 3rd day of the first test match between India and Pakistan in Pakistan after a gap of 15 years. Firstly, I find this hard to believe that Ganguly with a back spasm will not be even be fit for the second test. There is something more than what meets the naked eye.

I was amazed looking at Dravid who was sitting by himself looking so arrogant as if he is a captain at par with ganguly. He did not have the slightest decency to sit beside the wounded captain asking him for some advice or even cracking a joke with him so that he feels better after going through the torture of not playing a historic test. Then came the decision of declaring the innings when Sachin was on the brink of scoring another double hundred this calendar year. There were over 16 overs left and he could not even wait for one or two overs before Sachin got his maiden double century against Pakistan.  He also could have given sachin a indication that he is planning to  bowl atleast 12 or 13 overs . Team comes before the man but this decision was atrocious and silly . Even the AGGRESSIVE Ganguly would not have dreamt of doing that as he knows that the whole Indian media bandwagon would have jumped him if he had done the same.

I dont know what is happening off the field but the Indian dressing room as shown in the camera tells a story. The story is about a captain who did not give in to the pressures of being an Indian captain and still performed with a team down in the dumps after a string of pathetic performances during the mid and late 90's. and now he is made to feel that he is not wanted by unscrupulous old clumsy experts like Navjyot, Sanjay manjrekar( sachin's pet) and the Indian media(special mention goes to NDTV and Rajdeep SARDESAI) who cannot stand the very sight of Ganguly as the Indian captain .   Dont forget that under the captaincy of Sachin we lost the series to Australia in Australia 3-0 and also lost the series to South Africa 2-0(in the year 2000). Here came Ganguly who was one of the highest ODI run scorers of the year 1998, 1999 and 2000 to bear the brunt of being an Indian captain. He enriched this team with young blood by bringing in Khan, Yuvraj, Sehwag and Kaif and a bag full of self belief that India can be one of the strongest team in the world of cricket. Many people say that Rahul dravid has sacrificed by being the wicket keeper in the ODIs .  Lets go a few years back in cricket history. During the year 2000 and 2001 rahul dravid was dubbed as a liability to the One day side as he could not score runs quickly by the same Indian media who is right now going GA GA over him . But then all of a sudden Ganguly came up with this decision of making Rahul Dravid the gloves as he was a good enough keeper making way for another batsman in the Indian team. Once he started donning the gloves, rahul became more consistent with his performances in the smaller version of the game. He started scoring quickly not just by becoming the wicket keeper but also by his own hard work and will. The same selfless Rahul dravid now looks more and more selfish as he does not even care that his own captain is injured and needs his support and attention more than anything. I have noticed this bridge of gap increasing between two friends Sourav and rahul as Sourav's captaincy has been appreciated more than Rahul dravid's achievements which is quite right . Rahul wants to become the Indian captain badly as he now feels that he can handle this team  because the young guns have matured and are producing sensational performances. He probably thinks that becoming the Indian captain is not that difficult as everybody including him are playing well. The true test will come when nobody will be playing well and the same people will ask him as to why they are playing like that. These questions have been asked of Ganguly innumerable times. However, whatever I might say right now, these things will unfold with time.

For guys who do not believe what I say, kindly see the live broadcast where Ganguly is sitting aloof from everybody and nobody is sitting beside him.

I really dont want to talk about Navjyot Singh Sidhu as that ungrateful person sees Yuvraj singh asa fitting replacement to Ganguly(HArd to gulp). I really cannot stand the sight of this Funny man.
