Sharing my experience with VRL Packers and Movers(service availed by Bill No 596 dated 22/7/21 from Chennai to Kolkata) basis my 11th transfer within India in a little over 20+ years:
a) Covid is used as a good excuse to avoid home visits wherein quotation was provided by VRL basis SMS data and not bothering to do video call even. This is the 1st trap wherein after packing goods they will state the 1st surprise by increasing your transport cost by at least Rs 15K stating miscalculation of goods volume. This will be done conveniently just before loading your goods wherein you have no option but listen to them.
b) On quotation they will state that separate truck would be provided and not partial load but they will send small Tata Ace trucks instead of a single truck and will give excuses about lorry not able to enter premises which are a blatant lie(I got a full-sized truck for checking in to same premises in Chennai earlier). They will dump your goods with others and again deliver to the final point in small trucks in parts.
c) These nincompoops will ask for 50% advance and 3% insurance(no premium receipt provided to the customer. Further the actual payment to the insurer is just 1.69% and the rest is pocketed illegally by them). They will compel you to pay up full 100% without delivering goods to your final destination else they stop interacting.
d) Despite escalating to GM of VRL(one Mr. Jay Verma 99529-2XXXX) and seeking his intervention nothing is done wherein Chennai guy will provide you a transporter number in final destination for follow-up and absolves from all responsibility after receiving payment. The ultimate destination(Kolkata in this case) godown in charge will ask you to inspect your goods in godown and will provide another transporter number to follow up to get the final delivery. The goods will be dumped at your place by persons who will flatly refuse to install all the products dismantled at your initial place of journey.
e) Finally in my last 22 years, I have never suffered such fate wherein my fridge needed repair, LED TV needed repair, Aquagaurd filter stopped functioning and several glass shelves of a display unit and crockeries were just shattered(since goods are dumped it becomes impossible to check the condition of each good in each box). Due to multiple handling, poor packing the goods boxes are just worn out/torn. In one word avoids this transporter since the handlers are hoodlums who just threaten you from delivering goods especially after getting 100% payment before delivery.
