Villa Retreat guarantees the best view in Kodaikanal and I was not disappointed. It is a small cozy place right beside Coaker’s Walk. The first thing I noticed in Villa Retreat was the stone cottage look and the beautiful lawn. The place is not big but is very well maintained.
Villa Retreat offers cottages, classic rooms, deluxe and standard rooms as choices of accommodation. I chose the classic room, which has a lot of wood work, I have always felt that a hill station hotel should have a lot of wood work in the rooms. The room is very cozy and has all the modern amenities, but I loved the massive French windows in the room, which over look the green valleys, it’s the exact same view that you would get from Coaker’s walk. They have a small dinning area, but who would want to eat there when you have the beautiful lawn to dine in.
I was greeted by a very friendly staff and chocolates as soon as I reached Villa Retreat. The room service was very quick. They don’t have a huge variety in the cuisine they serve but the quality and quantity is fairly good. They do not have a bar and neither do they serve liquor. They have fire places in the cottages, and they provide room heaters in the other rooms.
They offer packages, I took Economy package which included my stay, food worth 700, boat ride in the lake, sight seeing in a private car. The room cost anywhere between 1100 to 2800, depending upon the room and season.
The hotel is right besides the Coaker’s Walk, you cant miss it.
