So all my friends recommended me after pleads and begs to watch this supposedly "great" film of Ajith's. Originally titled GODFATHER, the film has Ajith in three roles. The Father(who pretends to be disabled), the "good" son(typical Ajith character), and the bad son(Vaali ring any bells)?
Of the three Ajiths, the father stands tall. But alas the film ends up being a typical formulaic film that's redundant and rather tiresome in the majority of the South Indian cinema. Oh that's right, it's K.S Ravikumar's film. Toss your logic and watch the film with a weight-less plot.
Been in the making for over a year, you can tell it's dated and I mean DATED. For instance, Ajith is bulky and I mean Attagasam "bulky." Secondly, the print uses dated technology, which by now(it was released in 2006 after much delay) should be obsolete. Thirdly, the sound is jarring. I dunno if H.Sridhar was in charge of this, but damn, this was one of the worst sound mixing I've heard in a long time.
There's no point in telling you about the story. But the short version: Son is a good guy to father, Son has a typical introduction associated with formula films. Son goes on trip with troupe that MUST have a comedian(this case: Ramesh Kanna, regular of Ravikumar's films.) Comedian must praise the hero in the term of his past films(i.e Vadivelu's crass humor by mocking Rajni's film titles in Chappamooki, sorry, Chandramukhi.) Son meets heroine. Heroine pretends to act dumb but ends up enticing hero. Couple of duets later, Son introduces Heroine to Father. Father approves marriage. Suddenly, stuff happens to hero mysteriously. Son gets admitted to mental hospital and it turns out.he had another son! Father reveals himself un-disabled! Flashback madness! Father is seen walking like an "awkward" man. Crap happens in the past. Cliched climax! Catch my point?
Ajith was hammable in the film because he's been through plots like this before. So basically nothing great but rather, he sleepwalks through the film. Asin was terrible in the film. Nothing like her earlier works like Ullam Ketukume or the recent Dasavathaaram. The comedy sucked. Period.
Rahman had only 2 good songs. The rest were trash. Inisai was the best.
God father is something that even God himself couldn't watch.
