Upgrading the CD-ROM Drive is the Easiest

Not all but still most of the laptops and all desktops come with a pre-installed CD/DVD-ROM Drive which is provided by the manufacturer company. Some laptop doesn't come with a CD/DVD-ROM Drive. It is also called as Optical Disc Drive ( ODD) or simply Optical Drive. Optical drive is handy to read the data from a CD/DVD multimedia disk or software written inside it. Without an optical drive we can't burn a blank CD/DVD/Blu-Ray disk. So if anyone's laptop has not a CD-ROM drive or you want to replace it with a new one or if your desktop or laptops CD-ROM is damaged, then here I can give you a few tips to upgrade with a new one.

  1. At first buy a new CD-ROM or optical drive from a certified electronics store or you may buy it easily via online shopping sites. First figure out you need an optical drive for a laptop or desktop. CD-ROM sizes are different for laptop and desktop. Laptops optical drives are small whereas desktops ones are big in size.

  2. There are different CD-ROM Drives are available from different brands. But I recoomend to buy from a known or trusted brand which has been running long in this business field. You can easily buy SATA CD-ROM drives from brands like LG, Sony, Asus, Samsung, Philips, etc. They are simply best and their products are durable and most popular amongst users.

  3. After getting your desired SATA Optical Drive, your next step is to install them correctly inside your laptop or desktop CPU. For doing this, you just need a screw driver to open the lid of your laptop or CPU. You cam simply watch video tutorials on the YouTube or read the user manual for correctly installation.

  4. After opening the lids, in case of a desktop, correcly connect the SATA cables with the Optical Drive and connect the other sides of the cables to the SATA connector inside your CPU.

On the other hand, in case of a laptop no such cable is needed to connect. The CD-ROM can be easily connected by inserting into the Optical Drive slot.

  1. If you don't want to disassemble your laptop or PC, then simply you can go for an external CD/DVD-ROM Drive. External Optical Drives are easy to use and needed to connect using a USB connector that comes with it. Morever using an external CD-ROM Drive has an additional advantage too as there is no internal Optical Drive inside, so the slot is empty where an SSD or Solid State Drive can be installed for high speed performancce and better gaming experience.

So, I hope that my tips will somehow help you to upgrade your CD/DVD-ROM Drive.
