I am having a Savings bank account in Union Bank from last 6 years. I had no problems from the side of the bank till December last year. But I started getting bank messages regarding some transactions that were not made by me. All the withdrawals were made by self cheques from my account withdrew from the bank counter. The details of the transactions are:
1- Rs 6500 dated 20/09/2017
2- Rs 8500 dated 22/09/2017
3- Rs 1000 dated 07/10/2017
4- Rs 10000 dated 14/11/17
5- Rs 5000 dated 06/01/2018
I started complaining the bank right from the first transaction but instead of helping me out, the bank officials including the bank manager started blaming me for not taking care of my transactions. After getting these fake transaction deductions for multiple times from my account, I decided making a complaint to the police station. The police made the bank to investigate it within 2 days of the complaint. The bank was asked to produce the CCTV camera bank footage of the withdrawal dates with the copies of the cheques on which the money was issued by the bank from the Cash counter. It was later found from the camera footage that a person was doing all these fake transactions, who had a fake Aadhar Card of some other person, and all the transactions were made by that name.
Loose ends from the side of the bank :
1- The accountant did not bother about the fake signature on the cheque and it was not verified.
2- This mistake was repeated not once but 5 times.
3- Instead of helping me for my lost money, the bank manager kept blaming me that I was careless. The disappointment is that one considers bank to be a safer place for his money, but after this incident, the question arises, how can someone trust the bank for safety of his money. Really disappointed.
