A terrible experience with an uber taxi driver has made me realize how unreliable their services are. I once booked a cab from my home to railway station. After the booking got confirmed, the driver called me and refused my destination and asked me to walk a few meters to the cab stating the road was too narrow and it would be difficult for him to drive through and turn the car. It was raining and along with my 7 year old nephew and 52 year old mother, I had to carry the luggage and walk to the cab. When we were walking, he called me and said in a very rude tone that we should have been there at the time he arrived and he can not drive through this road. He further added that he did not cared whether we cancel the cab and he is least bothered. The cab was in my sight but my self respect did not let me to board the cab and so I cancelled it. We stood on the roadside, got an auto and went to the railway station to catch the train. I raised this issue to uber supported. They acknowledged it and said they will credit Rs.50 in my Uber account. I did not even bother to open my Uber app and check it, I deleted the app right away and never used it. At that point I realized, no matter how much technology improves, it will never be as reliable as the traditional way. Never use such kind of services at times of emergency.
