Twilight is a book that I had picked up with slight hesitation and had my prejudices about teenage love stories. I never thought I would like vampire fiction and that too with a romantic angle (thought was too old for mushy stuff like that) but I completely loved the entire series and fell in love with the characters. The movie however falls short of the book. I guess that happens to any popular book, which raises expectations about every single detail; you just cannot afford to go wrong or miss a thing in the film.
Twilight is a love story of Bella Swan (Kristin Stewart), a normal teenage girl and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), the irresistible vampire. Bella moves from Phoenix to Forks to live with her dad, and is trying to adjust to her new high school. Here she meets Edward Cullen, whom she is drawn to right from the first time she sees him. There is something so secretive about this gorgeous, extra pale boy and parallely there are mysterious deaths happening across Forks. Bella is intrigued and starts researching on Cullens and her suspicion about Edward’s secret turns out to be true. What follows next is an intense romance and a gripping climax.
Summit Entertainment could not have gone wrong with Edward Cullen’s character because millions of female fans were waiting with microscope to scrutinize the guy who plays the perfect Edward Cullen. It looked like the author had written Edward’s character for Pattinson, even Bella is perfect. The actors are intense and the chemistry between Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart is intoxicating. The actions sequences are thrilling, the romantic scenes are too beautiful, the location is perfect and all the actors are beautiful. If I had to pick one thing that I really liked about the movie then it would be the soundtrack, the number by Muse and Mutemath are really well placed in the film. They could have used a little less makeup on Edward Cullen though, because in certain scenes the white make up is a little too obvious.
There are certain scenes and characters that are missing and thus is a disappointment. However, if you have not read the book, it would not make the movie any less better. Twilight is one of those feel good movie, and the characters do justice to the book and come on it has action, chills, romance and such good looking people, of course it’s a must watch.
