Love stories with a difference. Review on True Love - Robert Fulghum

A couple of years ago we were working on a show. There was this guy who was hired with the event managers. He was not only cute but was tremendously hard-working. The show was over and in the two days couldn’t even get him to notice me. A month later at another show, he was there again backstage running around. And this time I decided that I was going to find out at least something about him. I got my friend backstage and asked her to approach him and ask for his telephone number. Cause I have never done that before and didn’t intend to make a beginning either. He refused to give his number to my friend. And that was that. After the show ended, he came up to me and asked me if I was the one who wanted his number. Something hit me and I said no. It’s been almost two years now and haven’t seen him again. Well who knows what would have happened if I would have asked him for his number. Maybe it would turn into the most romantic love story ever told or maybe it would have been the worst disaster to have ever hit my life. There’s no way to know and I guess that is what makes it all the more special. Who is to say what love is? And how long it has to last? True Love – the novel – by Robert Fulghum – is a collection of various such stories collected by the author over a period of time.

There are some people who have sent him the stories and then the author himself would sit in a coffee shop with a sign that read – tell me your love story and I will buy you coffee. The stories are about people who like me have very special crushes or those who fell in love and married the man/woman of their dreams. The more special stories are childhood lovers who met after years of having lived their lives either happy or otherwise. For those of you who are in love, or have been in love or want to fall in love, this book will definitely make interesting reading.
