Tirupati, everybody knows why people go to Tirupati, so that their wishes come true, I am not sure if this is true in 100% cases, but I have heard some.Mukesh Ambani has bought a house in Tirumala so that he doesn't have to stay in hotels again and again. Aishwarya rai made a visit here just after her wedding and Amitabh Bacchhan donated some kind of ornament here amounting 10 crores. The place is all over in news, TV. It's the richest temple in world. This curiosity brought me here just to witness what is Tirupati temple actually and what brings people here.
We started from Chennai catching a shatabdi from there. The train was full of people going to Tirupati obviously all were pilgrims. It was all full.We reached Tirupati in about 4 hours. It's in Andhra Pradesh, so we crossed into another state. There were hills and hills all around.
The train reached a station from where it took a diversion, a kind of U turn.Mostly the vendors were selling either vadas or flowers. When we reached Tirupati, it was such rush at station that I can't tell you, Somehow we got out of there, Our biggest tension was that we didn't had reservation back to Chennai, so we ran towards the reservation center and got booked tickets for next day. Then we caught a bus which would take us to Tirumala hills where the temple is located. It was a tiring journey and also it was cold there. The bus stopped at a security check and you've to carry your luggage to a scanner and got yourself checked. After a 2 hour drive, we reached the destination, but the next thing was to get an accommodation.
When we were in Shatabdi, a gentleman from Gujrat suggested us Vallabhacharya Matham to stay.We reached Vallabhacharya Matham by Jeep, Jeep is seen all over there as a means of transport.Vallabhacharya Matham did give us room and food, but it wasn't upto mark, it was kind of dormitory, as we had to bathe and change there only, we settled for it.
After bathing and changing, we proceeded towards the temple bare feet, it was very cold there. We took the paid queue, one ticket amounting to 300 rupees. The queue went on endlessly at 12 in midnight and after some time merged in unpaid line. When we reached the temple entrance, it was such rush that a stampede can ensue.Anyway, there were huge golden structures all over, when we reached the main central part of temple, it was all gold covered and the deity too.
We could see the deity for few moments only and saw other golden things there like gold well etc. There was room too where it was written that the donations are calculated here. Also a white sheet covered Hundi of which the things they say drop in a room downstairs, people were jostling there to drop things, some villagers were trying to drop bags of wheat, i suppose and police were preventing them from doing this. Also there was stone nearby where they were saying if you write something, it comes true.Going forwards, there was a section where everyone would get a ladoo as prasad. We came out of temple to another building where they said we can collect our special big ladoos due to the ticket we bought.
It was a three storeyed black granite building where there was such rush that it looked like a railway station or airport. There was chaos all over, people were running from counter to counter to buy polythene bags and collect their ladoos at 2 in night. We came out of the chaos and proceeded towards the boarding we stayed. After sleeping for a while, in morning we again took bus to Tirupati and reached Tirupati. Its a bustling city due to huge pilgrimage and its related economics.
Also I want to mention another interesting thing about the temple that God Vishnu, the presiding deity had no money to wed a local princess and asked a debt from God Kuber and to repay the debt, he asked his bhaktas to donate money to this temple so that he can repay the debt.We are still repaying his debt , i guess if isn't enough still.
I am not able to remember the name of a food outlet just in front of Tirupati railway station, oh my God, i haven't eaten such delicious dosas and halwa ever in my life. Please do not forget to eat them if you ever visit Tirupati. We came to Chennai by Shatabdi, So this was Tirupati.
If you have curiosity enough to go to Tirupati, Do visit this interesting place once.
Thanks for reading my review.
