Hi friends, I am mobile lover & keeps on buying & exchanging second hand headset for my personal use. My tips to purchase second hand phone are :
From where to buy :
You can prefer Offline retailer, Ebay or Olx.
Firstly identify the nearby stores who deals in second hand sale & purchase. Visit there & check the available models & your suitability. You can get good negotiable price here.
Else you may prefer Ebay for refurbished units. Though pricing is higher on Ebay but you can check reviews of sellers there as far as trust factor is concerned.
Thirdly & best option try olx, direct talk to seller, no middle man margin. If you are good with negotiating then this is the best option.
Primary Body Examination :
Firstly hold mobile in your hand. Remove all the covers. Then check if there are dents on body or not. Check the battery, if its in proper shape or not. Generally batters gets thicker when it gets defective. Then check the screws, if anycase mobile was opened for repair, you can judge from screws.
Now internal features :
Firstly check the operating system. Like Android version or iOS version. Then open camera & click photographs. Make sure you click few with flash light on.
Then make some calls & check mircophone & speaker quality. Then check charging slot & speaker volume playing some songs. Play games for 5-10 min to check the heating issues of phone. Plug in headphones to verify jack.
Documents:
Then check the documents of mobile like IMEI number & bills. Match the physical number with the number you get from * #06#. Make sure to get the ID proof of seller stating that this phone is being sold.
Check warranty online if applicable.
Then finally negotiate if there is still any scope for it.
