After the tsunamis hit Sri Lanka, parts of India, Indonesia, Thailand and many other places around the Indian Ocean, millions of pounds (UK) have been given in aid.
But is it enough?
It had been estimated that 60million pounds had been given by the British government and public. That is a lot of aid, and will do a lot of good; but lets put this into perspective.
To launch a SCUD missile costs 100,000 pounds each time. Britain are fighting a pointless war in Iraq on the sayso of the USA on the false premise of WMDs (Weapons of mass destruction). It has since been proven that there were NO such weapons in Iraq.
So, why must millions of pounds and the manpower which the British forces hold be wasted on a shallow and silly war. The British troops can help easily on the ground.
I am writing this from a British perspective and thus I would concentrate upon the British perspective. Nevertheless, the same is true about the other nations which are involved in Iraq.
The British Government can also look at the Japanese government, which gave
140 million to the fund, as opposed to our paltry 25 million.
We must do as much as we can not just to clean up the situation, but to help the survivors and rebuild shattered lives.
To all who were caught up in the tsunami, my heartfelt sorrow is shared with you.
