Frankly speaking I never had interest in news papers till my school days. Since I joined the college and started growing up, my interest in day to day news also grown up I think it was because of one session of general discussion (awareness) class in college.
I always referred to Hindustan Times because that was the only paper which used to come at home and it was my dad?s choice. The best part of it for me was editorial where I could read peoples comment and write up by my favorite columnist Kushwant Singh. Still I read his Coolum every time without failing. And yes the HT City was entertaining with its bollywood gossip masala and love bites.
But later on as I heard a lot about Times of India through my friends I moved to it to give a try. And a big credit goes to one of my friend who used to work for Times of India and forced me to subscribe it.
Initially I enjoyed it specially city times with its chatpata gossips. But as I started comparing its news with Hindustan Times I found it uncompetitive. And day by day it?s becoming gossip paper instead factual. Its business news is somewhat useful. I still surf it on net as well as Hindustan Times and other Indian papers. As truly said by some body?s review here as soon as you enter its site you will refresh your eyes with semi nude pictures and more than 50% sex topics.
Fact is also not presented in expressive and impressive way. If one is in mood to entertain oneself it?s a good paper but if you really want news so never expect it from Times of India. Hindustan times are still having some credibility. So I do prefer its news some times. Now as I am out of country so can only serve there sites cant comment on their original copy much.
When I was in India never had much awareness about what happening in regions country itself and around the world expect few headlines about local Delhi. But now sitting in Gulf I have much more information about Indian regions and world. And the full credit goes to Gulf News ? you can say official paper of UAE. Its contains more than 70-80 pages including Gulf news (main paper including Nation, Opinion, Analysis, Regional news, World ), Business, Sports, Tabloid, Appointments Classified properties, Classified Jobs, Automobiles, Entertainment Plus (magazine) and Friday magazine (on Fridays).
So whatever you want you have in Gulf news. The main attraction is its daily Appointment issue. Like in India we have to wait for 1 week to get Accent (in TOI) and Career (in HT) here we get everyday. So Appointment is its one main selling feature in UAE. The price is 2dhs (Rs.24 approximate) daily and 3dhs (Rest.) 39 on Fridays. But it is worth buying it. Its Tabloid is interesting with various useful topics. Gulf news covers middles east, all Gulf countries some part of Asia and headlines of around the world.
It can be surf on net through https://gulfnews.com. Only disadvantage is its too lengthy to finish in a days time with busy work schedules. But yes you can glance the headlines of whole paper.
The other news papers are also competitive like Khaleej Times, Gulf Today etc.
