FLY HIGH WITH FEET ON EARTH""
"Although I am not an Engineer yet my contribution on the subject might enlighten someone’s path…"
Earlier, we hardly heard B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA etc. but these days every parent intends that their child should become an Engineer, seeing the potential and growth in this sector. And why should not one make one’s dreams true that too when either two or only one child concept has taken its shape.
To get admission in the 1st year of Engineering, applicant should either be 12th Pass or Diploma Holder (3 years) to get Lateral Entry i.e. direct admission to 2nd year of B.Tech.
My dear friends, though both ways are not easy for getting admission into Engineering yet the way through Senior Secondary is comparatively more tedious. You can weigh the load, strain and stress because students opt Non-Medical stream and combination of Physics, Chemistry and Math makes it tough enough to score the requisite percentage finally in Board Exams of Class XII; resulting remote chances of admission to simple graduation even…
And to verse of the affair is that seeing cut throat competitions, while pursuing senior secondary, students have to join the Engineering Preparatory Classes in the SHOPs available at every nook and corner of streets. Here, students are taught short cut methods so that 100-125 questions could be attempted out of 150, within stipulated time and in Schools/Board Examination marks are given contrary to it. The labour to cope up this dual strategy only leads to confusion amongst our generation next.
Besides, a child gets only depression due to peer pressure of needed desires, due pressure from parents and to meet the requisite standards of these formative years etc. This all land them in nowhere zone. Poor marks become hurdle in admission for simple graduation. Rank beyond imagination in Engineering’s entrance tests debar their admission to a renowned engineering college where reputed companies come for campus placements etc…? And ultimately, parents have to spend 4 to 6 lacs for a Management Seat. Besides, parents had already spent Rs. 50, 000/- in their schooling, Rs. 25, 000/- to their Tuitions, Rs. 1, 00, 000/- in Engineering Preparatory Institutes and other hidden expenditure.
On the contrary, while going diploma after Class 10th, expenses are quite less. They simply pursue their Diploma with due labour and to be on the safer side, 12th can be done from Open School.
For admission to lateral entry, competition is quite less as compared to normal entry for B.Tech where 6 to 7 lacs applicants appear after passing 12th. A simple logic at the end, a 12th pass is simply 12th pass whereas a Diploma Holder at about same age can earn livelihood by virtue of campus placement and later on pursue AIME to become full fledged engineer…
