This is going to be a short one as I'm in a jiffy and the night is slowly but surely turning into day.
It was refreshing to see an Indian Scriptwriter come up with a totally original script (I must say in a very, very long time).
Throughout the movie the writer/driector M. Night Shyamalan keeps you gripped and all along the audience fell for the twist at the very last moment and after the curtain went down, all the movie buffs who had become so adept at guessing the ending of a film by intermission were saying to themselves ''HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED THAT''. Well the realization comes after the shock and in retrospect you realize the clues so subtly left behind in the movie, for e.g. the anniversary dinner or the time in the living room when his wife is crying and even the shooting incident right at the start.
It was a delight and I couldn't stop talking about it for a couple of days and encouraging everybody to go see this amazing piece of art. No wonder it was a hit and I was disappointed when the film didn't receive an Oscar for at least the best original screenplay,
I hope our desi breed of music composers and film directors take a cue from this and delve into the world of originality for a change rather then blatantly copying Hollywood Movies, scene to scene (sometimes even locations).
The menace in the film is restricted to the gargoyles of various turn of the century buildings reminding us of the past in the present and how our perception of realities can be totally different even tough we live in the same world!
Loved Bruce Willis and Joel Haley Osmond in the respective roles both coming up with stellar performances which were very convincing.
Overall a superb thriller and totally original!!
