Went to see Alejandro Gnalez Inarru’s The_Reverant yesterday, brilliant film. It's a film about the brutality of people and nature and bad luck. Reminded me of'Aguirre, the Wrath of God' or even a Terence Malick film on steroids. Emmanuel Lu’s cinematography in this and his last Gravity film has taken cinematography to a new level, never seen a camera move the way he gets it to move. like Miles Davis, bitches brew. It's a shame Hollywood just chucks us a few tokens around award season and the rest of the year knocks out remakes and superhero pish. But movie Reverant which likely will win best director is the most boring film I have watched for a long time.Watching Leon grunting his way for over 2 hours and watching tree tops is tough.Same director who won for another bore "Gravity" with Sandra floating around grunting in space. A director is not there to be noticed but to tell a story. Spotlight, Creed, The Danish Girl that is stories well told.
