Change is the essence of life, but THE HINDU is the news paper which has changed very little since 1878It Looks like that THE HINDU does not have a marketing unit, and they never try to carry out a survey of the market. What people want and what is relevant in the present context, seems to be an eluding thought for THE HINDU's think tank. They believe what they have been serving for last 120 years can work for ever. The news paper is known for the quality of its english, it may appeal to those who are interested in literary side of english, but for a common person, what you need is news. I ,personally, whenever have a news paper in my hand, bothered to cover the headlines only. For this fast paced lifestyle and neck to neck competition who has the time to read a whole paragraph to get an information which can be provided in a simple one liner. Reading an editorial or some supplement article comes in handy when the topic is relevant, the information is useful and is presented in an abstract form. Hindu is lacking in this part. The topics are boring and written in a style which does not catch your enthusiasm. I do cover Science articles and some policy matters and also hot current affairs in news papers, but I have alsways preferred other news papers to Hindu. The news paper I used to go through mostly was The Asian age, but its difficult to get this news paper everywhere, but I liked the way they use to cover the news. Their editorial (Asian Age), were not that interesting and use to be a little biased, but for editorial part I always liked Hindustan Times. Now a days I just go to website or will just follow the news on TV, since I no longer have access to these indian News papers. Still, till date I have never visited The Hindu on web. In my life if I ever read The Hindu, it was because it use to come in the hostel where I use to stay during my doctoral degree. I never subscribed to this news paper.
