The Great Raid is based on a true story of Amerian prisoners of war (PoW) during World War 2. Story ------------ After Pearl Harbor, Japaneese were in full swing and were winning allmost all their batles. The Alies still concentrate on Hitlers moves and neglect Japs. Japs in the mean time capture lots of PoWs, especially Americans. They are kept in war camps in Phillipines. After almost 3 years later, Japs have decided to kill all PoW and leave no trace behind. They make the americans dig up a trench and then burn them alive. During this time, 6th Ranger Battalion, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Henry Mucci, is ordered to resuce 500+ American PoW from one of the camps in Cabanatuan. Henry has to raid the camp with complete stealth and leave no one behind. The task is very dangerous as Japs are everywhere. The whole movie is about this raid and rescue. Remarks -------------- The movie is beautifully filmed and acted well, by everyone. The director is able to capture the feelings of PoWs and the brutality of Japs. The best thing about this movie is the raid plan. The plan is devised by Captain Robert Prince. who also leads the raid. In brief, if you like War movies, then this one is definietly a go.
