Yesterday ! Now Thats a song by The Beatles for sure. But it was also a day, when we ( select group of families from our society) had planned a trip to The Great Escape Water park.
And so it was that our group of 17 people across all age groups, left from Dahisar to the Water park, located near Virar. I believe it lies on the road to Vajreshwari, or so I have been told. Correct me , if I am wrong. We had the good sense of leaving at 8 am. And we arrive at the park at roughly around 9 am.
Once at the entrance, we purchased the tickets ( these cost Rs 350 per head; For Senior citizens above 65, you get a discount of Rs 100 - Carry proofs). And the gang ambled along the pathway to the entrance. This for me was the first ever visit to this place, so I had no idea what to expect.
As soon as we entered the park, were were given our welcome drink - a glass of cool Lemon juice, that just about set the ball rolling. Thereafter, we were directed towards the banquet, where a scrumptuous breakfast awaited us. There was a good varierty out there..And everything tasted just as good as it could get. There was Fafda n jalebi, Idli n chutni n sambar, and powdered dhokla with sev. Then tea was served at the respective counter.
Having served our stomachs with food, we all went across to the park. Those of us who had come prepared with lycra outfits had to just change into them, and the rest rented the outfits from the management there. The rent rate is 30/- . Thought they take 100 from you. The refund is against the coupon.
There are a total of 8 major rides, 3 of these with the tubes to glide down. The rest are the ones where you slide down from. Now these, I am talking are for the adults. There are around 5-6 other rides for kids, located near two pools. There is also the area where 3 fountains, act as the medium for rain dance. The space here isnot very big, but it is enjoyable. Themusic is loud and clear, and they inveritably have good dance tracks - a good mix I would say. Though after a while, you get to hear the same tracks again and again.
The rides are good fun and since we were there a lot earlier, we got to have a good time there. We got onto the rides more often .But as they time went on and the crowd started pouring in, we could see a lot of crowd at most of the rides, specially the tube rides.
Thereon things only got worse. We could see from our rest room ( common one, located at a slight height), that there was hardly any leg room at any of the poools. Also, the water in the pools got to a nice brown colour. Not that it mattered to the people in the pools. They were simply oblivous to the murky pool.
The only good place to be at this time was the rain dance section. One thing about the place though is that there is never a dull moment. Good food was served throughout the day.
At around 11.30 they started serving potato wadas & slush to the people. then on there was a special counter of appams & small uttapams ( delicious). Then on Lunch was on from 12 - 3 pm. Then cotton candy was served. At 4.30, they started serving rose milk. all in all, this is one place where you could live the adage - Eat, drink & be merry.
The staff is quite friendly and courteous, firm where they need to be - which is a good thing.
All in all , this is a good place to be to chill out.
Enjoy
