The Bombay Dhaba - A detailed review. Review on The Bombay Dhaba, Kalwa, Thane

The Bombay Dhaba is a comaparitively new Restaurant near Thane which has become very popular in a short timespan

Ambiance :

The place is really nice. They have a variety of sitting arrangements. The best one is the Machan ( upper level ) . They have tried their best to cater to the varying demands of customers. There is a unique concept of a moving table which sways back n forth while having food. The other arrangements are , the dhaba style baithak , open air sitting , closed roof ac section , tent style sitting , roofed sitting in the open. What more could you ask for !

The place is well lit but mosquitoes could be an issue. They do provide with repellents though.

There is a playing section for children but half of it isn't working because they havent started it . There are white ducks roaming in the compound.

Service:

The service is average . The management is really good but the waiters who serve the food need to be groomed a bit. Not all of them are bad but some could get on your nerves .

Food :

I have been there exactly 6 times . I have never been disappointed with the food. The preparation is majorly medium spicey. The presentation need to be improved a little bit. My personal favourite are Murgmussalam, Dilkash kebab, Chicken Tandoor , Dry Chana Koliwada, Chicken Aftabi. I haven't tried vegetarian food so can't comment on that.

Sheesha :

They serve sheeshas .

Liquor :

They dont serve liquor but I guess you can get your own bottle and they would serve it with minimal cover charge.( Please confirm ! )

Parking :

There is ample of parking space

Toilets:

They are clean and hygenic

Tips :

If you do not have your own car , OLA / UBER is the only option. They donot have a rickshaw or taxi stand as it in the middle of the highway . And importantly, the network could also be an issue while booking a cab so best get your own vehicle.

People who are coming from mumbai need to go far ahead( 1 - 2 km) n take a U turn to reach the hotel . There is no break in the divider at the hotel entrance.

On a public holiday and weekends, reserve your table in advance as the place could get crowded.If you wish to try out the Machan ( upper level ) reserve it whenever you plan to go as it is most likely to be occupied and there just three of them( one is ac and two are non ac ) . They allow decorations in machan . So it is a good option for anniversery, birthday etc.

The place gets noisy on a karaoke night. I found it a little annoying because the volume was so high that we couldn't hear eachother.

Final verdict:

The place is a must try if you are looking for a new restaurant around Thane . Ideal to spend a an evening with your family, friends or special one.
