A Shame on the 5 Star Tag, Only Good for Weddings. Review on The Ananta, Udaipur

Imagine a place with a picturesque location, beautiful outdoors, sumptuous food, lush green views, big and clean rooms with ample amenities and now imagine an extremely busy highway dhabha, it's waiters running helter skelter, most not even listening to your shouts, The noise of cars, loud chats of indecent truck drivers. Now club these two. This is The Ananta for you. An excellent property plagued with third grade service and hospitality.

I stayed in this hotel in feb 2017 on my wedding anniversary and paid a hefty Rs 11, 500 for a night expecting better experience than my previous budget 5 star stays, but it went the opposite.

Essentially this is a wedding destination and you'll feel all but an unwanted guest in somebody else's wedding when you come here, No staff listens to you, the cab service which is essential to move around in this huge complex will be an scarcity for you as they'll all be running for wedding guests, we used it thrice and each time it took 1 hour to reach us as if it were an ambulance coming from a government hospital.

This spoiled my evening surprise as we missed our lakeside restaurant reservation and second I missed my movie show which was paid in advance as my checkout call was at 12 and they sent a cab at 1:20 PM.

Secondly the staff is not trained at all for hospitality, you'll see exhausted bodies, worried faces lacking any charm and smiles, and numb ears to your requests and yells alike.

eg. There was no room decoration or complimentary cake even after telling them in advance that we are arriving for our anniversary.(which happened without exception in all my previous 5 star stays) and coming to yells the cabs which are running as if they are being featured in fast and furious will not stop for you even if you yell hard at them as they are running for the wedding guests. and nor would the receptionist pay heed to the story of your painful stay, he will only nod with a blank gaze.(om nom om nom om nom type of dumb looking guy)

The Room was big with a balcony with a scenic view, with good quality bathroom amenities, but there was no room locker as it was out for repairs and secondly the outdoor shower only runs cold water. so it was a bad trade off in winter for jacuzzi tub option we had in similar priced hotels. And a first you'll see in a five star category resort, the mini bar was empty and had a sticker'Mini Bar on request'!

You will also be nagged with the noisy cabs running all around and when you opt for a star gaze or romantic rendezvous in the scenic balcony, the loud wedding music and indecent late night chatters of wedding guests will prick you and when all this ends a random staff guy would probably start to play bhojpurisque playlist near your balcony on his loud chinese phone, so this supposedly peaceful balcony essentially becomes a chandni chowk for you. Finally you're all but a caged bird in the your room in this large resort.

A terrible stay I must say, if You're a wedding guest you must go. you'll write a 5 star review. and be a saviour for the resort at Mouthshut and T.advisor,

For others avoid even if you have the free passes, you'll come back with sour memories and would be writing a negative one like me.
