It is said better late than never....So I thought I would finally write my review on my Thailand Trip which I made in June first week.
As it was my first International Trip I was loaded with excitement for atleast two months in advance…and then the D-Day finally arrived…
We left on 31 May from Delhi for a three-day trip to Thailand and to be particular Pattaya and Bangkok. My office organized the trip and we were a group of 50 people. We took a Thai Airways flight from Delhi to Bangkok, the flight was on-time and we reached Bangkok in the early hours and straightaway took a bus to Pattaya, en-route we stopped for breakfast in Bangkok at a restaurant named Red Chillies where we had Indian Food- Poori Aloo and South-Indian, we were surprised to find such good Indian food in Bangkok, it shows that Indian food is truly global, we reached Pattaya at 12 and checked into a hotel called Hard Rock Hotel which is a part of a Global chain of hotels, it is an amazing hotel, with brilliant service and a rocking view from the room balcony which overlooks the Pattaya Beach. The theme of the hotel is based on Music, each room had pictures of Rock Stars, mine had Sting and Tina Turner to adorn the walls of the room, the lobby had attires of rock stars like Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Madonna, Prince and a host of others.
After having lunch at another Indian Restaurant called Ali Baba I went for a Thai Massage which truly energized me, it was amazing to say the least, I paid 200 Bahts for a 2 hour massage, I was exhausted as I didn’t sleep the last night but the massage made me fresh to explore Pattaya. In the evening we went for a Music and Dance Show named Alcazar which was the most boring show I have ever been to, I royally slept for 2 hours, but some of the people found it interesting but I didn’t. In the night after having a Continental dinner at our Hotel we went for a Strip Show…, which was pathetic to say the least. I had heard so much about the Bangkok Strip Shows but it was atrocious. All the dancers with no Facial Expressions. I hated every minute of it and came out in ten minutes flat. Then after that we went to Walking Street, a street where there are hundreds of Pubs and Dance Clubs on both sides of the road, came back at three in the night and woke up to go to Coral Island which was 20 minutes by a Motor Boat from our Hotel Beach. I had a great time there, I did Para Sailing, Banana Boat Ride and Sea Scooter Ride, but the most exciting part was the Under Water Ride which was for 45 Minutes and I paid 1200 Bahts for that, I mean that was the most memorable time of my Life and nothing would ever beat that. Imagine you are 10 metres deep in the Sea on the floor and feeding fish with your bare hands and getting photographs clicked underwater. It is one amazing experience that nobody should miss when one is in Pattaya. After that we went for a Boat Ride whose floor was transparent and we could see the Coral Reefs below, they were very beautiful.
In the evening we were free to do whatever and I again went for a traditional Thai Oil Massage which was very refreshing, and I also had a evening Brunch at Burger King. We had a traditional Thai Dinner in our hotel in the night which I loved having. I slept early that night to catch some badly needed sleep and woke up, and after having breakfast bid a goodbye to Pattaya and headed to Bangkok, enroute we stopped at a Theme Park where there was Wildlife Safari, Wild Wild West Show and a Dolphin Show arranged. I had a great time as I had not seen a Safari and Dolphins earlier, I also got my snaps clicked with a Cub Tiger, Bald Eagle, Owl and cockatoos.
After this we reached Bangkok in the afternoon and after having lunch in our Hotel Rembrandt which was in the center of Bangkok went for shopping in a huge shopping mall named MBK Mall, where I shopped for Chocolates, a Sony Digicam (I have already written a review on the same), Clothes for me, my friends and family and toys for my niece. I finished shopping in the evening and again had a Thai Dinner in the Hotel Restaurant, In the night we went to Pakpong, the famous red-light area of Bangkok and had a fun time there, I mean it is a wild place where there are thousands of girls roaming around. Coming back I had a ride on the world famous Tuk-Tuk Auto rickshaw that is featured in the Ad of Visa with Pierce Brosnan. The driver I am sure was a little eccentric as he drove at a speed of 120 Kms Per Hour and was continuously looking back at us to check our reactions, I mean it was terrifying.
We left for New Delhi the next morning by a Thai Airways Flight and I again did my shopping of Alcohol, Cigarettes and Chocolates at the Airport Duty-Free Shop.
The entire trip was one of the most memorable trips I ever had and the weather in Thailand was a little sticky but was bearable. The shopping in Bangkok was very affordable as is the Food at the local Restaurants.
I would always mark this trip as one of the best as this was my first international trip and I hope to have some more in the future.
So if you wish to travel abroad on a low budget then Thailand is the most affordable destination closest to India. The return tickets are worth 16000 and the Hotels are also cheap but we stayed in some expensive hotels as my company was sponsoring !!!
Hope my review was useful and made a good reading…Wait for my next review on some books as I have just started reading books and am loving it…
