It was the worst day of my life (at that moment) as I was extremely excited to go out and party with my friends, since I got myself a new job. Now, we wanted to booze away to the glory, listen to some good music, have nice beautiful people around and no we were not in the mood to dance. Hmmm…so you thought Delhi has too many places like that, sadly it did not then. I’m talking about 2001.
Even if it did we didn’t like them. My pals and me were being the highest degree of arrogant people then. Everywhere we went everything we ate we didn’t like it. Oh gosh! I think I need to change the path and reach to the focal point. We were not in a mood to catch a flick as we were at Priya Cinema, the thought did cross our mind. Then we saw, TGIF. “I have never been there,” said one of my friends. “Me neither” said another. “I always wanted to try it out, but it seems costly” this was me. “Let’s check it out” all in chorus.
Ok it has a Display Board every place does BIG DEAL! It has a well-dressed Guard, everyplace does, BIG DEAL!! It has a Nice wooden entrance warm people to welcome and Waiting list. Hmmm-BIG DEAL!!! After waiting for 5 minutes we got ourselves a place to sit. “Smoking” said my buddy in the rudest of all tones. “Sure, sir” came the prompt and polite reply.
So you want to know how was the place to sit. It was so cool, Now whenever I go to TGIF I go there only. It is our, Yes, OUR Favourite table no. 40. It is in the basement area. I find it better than the ground floor. It has all the happy freaky people sitting there.
All right now a very important point- First thing that gives you more information about any restaurant or pub is the Menu Card, the Discotheques are saved, as they don’t have to flaunt one. I liked the pictures and the neatness of the Menu Card; a little heavy if you don’t mind the weight then it is very informative. Incase you think that you have not had those cocktails ever before please go through the details. I have till date not seen such a comprehensive menu card for drinks.
We ordered 2 Long Island Ice Tea, 2 Screw Driver, 2 Rum and Cola, 2 fosters. Now, if you are wondering why ?? Remember HAPPY HOURS!!Hahaha…Some landing we made on that Launch Pad!
“I’m hungry and famished,” said my ‘Always Hungry’ pal. “What do you want to have?” popped the question. Fish n Chips, Nachos with salsa and chicken wings. The Nachos were really nice. I think the Nachos found at TGIF are better than everywhere. The Fish n Chips are not better than Oxygen. Chicken wings are a little sweet. TGIF we are Indians and like our chicken wings a little spicy and tangy. Food was okay and the drinks were still going on strong.
The ambience got better with the evening rolling in and the sun vanishing into dusk. The music was now all rock. And it is after 7:30 that the DJ took over. Hence the music was better and with varied moods. I love the fact that it does not play Bhangra. Nobody hates bhangra, but how about it playing at a place where people dance and jibe. When one sits to drink and eat and make merry then the music needs to be as filling as the heavenly nachos.
The service could get an A+ grade in this review for the sweet northeastern Lady who always serves with a smile. Guess what spoiled the score? That whenever you call for someone to attend to your table, it takes at least 10 minutes. As the possible reason could be that lot of people visit it, could you employ more staff, then?!?!
Overall, I can say the Happy Hours could be happier if the DJ came in a little earlier. Once, the DJ steps in I would give them A grade for service, Music, Drinks, Menu Card. Everything is appropriately priced as per the ambience and the service.
OH!I completely forget to mention! That the drinks are really nice and soothing like the music (I reiterate, after the DJ steps in). Especially, TGIF you deserve A++ for Long Island Ice Tea. It is the best in the Capital of India. WOW!! Kudos to the bartender or the guy who came up with the recipe and added the TGIF zing to it!
Last point- the happy birthday song and the TGIF panache to it, is something to watch out for. Even if it not your birth day just watch the TGIF staff clapping all away to glory for some lucky one!
TGIF you deserve all the luck and Good Job done guys! Thanks for making our weekends better, worth every penny. Pssst…there is always room for improvement.
