Music can be slow, can be fast, can be sad, can be full of joy and life, but music is always a wonderful form of art which gives vent to ones feelings and emotions and music depends on the listeners own perception of it, so its choice varies from person to person…Roobaroo-Rang De Basanti
*Sung by A.R Rehman and Naresh Iyer. This inspiring song has the power to fill you up with strength and courage to attend to do the things you always thought you couldn’t do.It makes you believe in yourself with the lines “abhi abhi hua yaqeen ki aag hai mujh mein kahin”…Light and Hope are the synonymous words that I can find to replace the lyrics of this wonderful song.I can almost imagine seeing myself flying while listening to the line “khula gagan mera” and “naam o nishaan rahe na rahe yeh kaarvan rahe na rahe…Kyun sahe teh rahe?” are just as right.
*Bheegi Bheegi-Gangster
*The awful pain portrayed in the song by the singer, James, who is going to make it big for sure, is really commendable. The pain and suffering caused when lovers get separated is what the song conveys to the listener. The lines “Na Jane koi kaisi hai yeh zindagani…Humari Adhuri Kahani…” can sting you in the heart like anything.
*Lamha Lamha-Gangster
*The song gives you such a nice feeling of peace and serenity.Abhijeet and Sunidhi Chauhan’s voice can simply leave you stupefied with this song. Its simply too sweet to be described…"Teri Aankhe Dikhati Hai, Humein Sapne Sitaron ke” are the best lines in the song according to me…
*Bin Tere-Who Lamhe
*Another sweet, lovely and painful song sung by a Pakistani singer Jawad Ahmed…It portrays the prospect of being separated from your beloved… “Bin tere ka hai jina?Mere dil ki rani tu…” shows the wonderful emotions that love can create in your heart…”Tere sung hai sab kuch, tu na ho toh bekar” are two lines I find best in this lovely song.
*Tere Bin-Bas Ek Pal
*Atif Aslam’s voice has a unbelievable magical charm about it and that’s what makes this song even more admirable and painful too…Another sad song which a lover might want to sing if he is separated from his sweetheart because of her betrayal…The lines
“Tanha hai tujbin raate meri, din mere din ke jaise nahi, .
Aaja mere ab roobaroo, jeena nahi bin tere…”
“Bhoole naa mujhse baatein teri, bheegi hai har pal aankhe meri…”
“kyun hogaya tu bewafa mujhko bata de vaajay?”
are just perfect.Infact this song is the most perfect lyrical song of the year.I can go on writing the lyrics of the whole song here, so let me stop here!
*Bas Ek Pal-Bas Ek Pal
*With the husky starting in the male and female voice, later with KK merging in with his wondrous voice, this is undoubtedly the best song of the year for me.The singer did an awesome work and the meaning of the song is almost similar to that of Tere Bin, only here the lover wishes for his beloved to come back to him which is conveyed through the lines “Tu ekbar jo pyar se mujhko chuley toh har zakhm bhar jayega”and the lines “suna hai ki mohabbat ki taqdeer mein likhe hai andhere ghaane”- I am sure people who has lost their loved ones can relate to with their own stories
*Omakara-Omkara
*In case you are a Bharatnatyam dancer or you love this form of dancing and yet you fail to like the beats of this song then all I can say is I wouldn’t want to have anything to do with you(I mean it!)…The most praiseworthy thing about the song are the dance beats it has.And Sukhwinder Singh also sang in a quite nice way.
*Golmaal-Golmaal
*One of the fastest numbers of this year by Anushka Manchanda, this song is not only funny and cute but is simply adorable(or so I think!)and the blend of English words with the Hindi word ‘Golmaal’ make it quite unique in my eyes.
*Lukka Chupi-Rang De Basanti
*Another inspiring and patriotic song from the movie. Moreover the combination of Lata Mangeshkar’s voice with A.R Rahman’s make it all the more precious. This song is mostly applicable to the soldiers of our country who fight to protect the people and the country with absolute selflessness. The lines “Meri Patang ho befikar udd rahi hai ma, dor koi loote nahi bichh se kate na” shows the love of a patriot for his country-the patang refers to the country’s welfare and the “dor koi lute nahi” signify that the person would’t allow anyone to bring any harm to the motherland and the lines “Teri raha take aankhiya, jane kaisa kaisa ho e jiya” show the concern of the brave family members for the brave soldiers.
*Aazmale Aazmale – Taxi No.9211
*This song, sung by Shekhar Ravjiani, can provide you with all the confidence you need if you are unsure or confused about something. It asks you to try yourself out and it tells you that there are a lot of opportunities that come your way in life, conveyed through the lines “pal pal bikhre hai kitne ujjale”…
“kashmakash ko chod de tu,
rukh haowa ka mor de tu
khali pe maana hai tera, ho sake toh tod de tu,
Ek nayi mehfil saja le bichh ka parda uthale, azma le”
are some of the other amazing lines.
These were just personal favourites and I would have loved adding many many more songs from Rang De Basanti, Woh Lamhe and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna And Omkara but as it says “ten best songs” so I will have to limit my choice of songs upto these ten only!
Thank you for reading this review.
