2001 was a pretty good year for music lovers. There were a lot of superb songs released in this year. So picking my top 10 will be a tough job, Anyways, let me give it a go. The songs are in no particular order.
1) Butterfly by Crazy Town - A smash hit by the huge 7 member group called crazy town. Wacky lyrics with a spaced out video clinch this techno-rap song a place in my top ten for the year.
2) Elevation by U2- An amazing soundtrack for the not so amazing movie'Tomb Raider'. Another superb song by U2. My fave part of the song is when part'El-e-vation' is screamed. It rocks!
3) You rock my World by MJ - The king of pop returned with a bang with this awesome number. Typical MJ style of song with groovy beats. Perfect for that long ride in the car. The video too was cool.
4) Purple Hills by D-12 - Well it's a song by eminem and is group D-12 with a cameo by DR Dre. Well for once there is nothing offensive in this song and it is quite cathcy once you start listening to it.
5) Jaded by Aerosmith - Well a long time after a album was released by Aerosmith and it seems that the wait was worth it. Aerosmith here with yet another masterpiece . The video could have been better though.
6) Slave by Britney Spears - I hate britney spears but I have to admit that she has turned out a pretty catchy number here. The video also helps its popularity. This tune is pretty popular with the cell phones too,
7) Angel by Shaggy -'Bomabastic' Shaggy is back afer a long time and back with a super song. The lyrics are pretty nice and Shaggy's voice complements the lyrics so much. Another song perfect for the long drive.
8) Turn off the Lights by Nelly Furtado - My nomination for the best debut song of the year. Nelly has the most versatile voice. She can do rap and pop with equal panache. Did you know that she also sings in Hindi?!
9) Sing by Travis - This song is so slow and soothing. It is perfect for listening after a hard days work. The video is hilarious and the part where it goes'Sing, Sing, Sing, Sing' stays in your mind a long time after you hear it.
10> Let me blow ya mind by Gwen and Eve - Eve was back with vengeance with this solid number and she surely blew my mind with this number. This was the most popular song on Radio FM. The video also rocked. The starting of the song was fantastic.
So get those feet moving and start grooving to these superb songs.
