Choreography is something that adds a new life into a song.It was not given credit for a long time but was always enjoyed and noticed by people.Now, I am going to list ten songs where choreography I feel,is at its best and makes you tap your feet:-
The Winners are-
1.Mera piya ghar aaya[Yaarana-1995]- Watching the video of this song was itself a treat.The dancing queen Madhuri Dixit bouncing her left hip(not looking vulger at all) was thoroughly enjoyable.It had some steps that were really very difficult.I had tried to copy it but the steps were too fast to pick up.All in all,a fabulously choreographed song.
2.Ek do teen[Tezaab-1986] - Do I need to say anything about this song?This song that made Madhuri Dixit a superstar overnight was choreographed by none other than Saroj Khan.Oh!It was mind blowing.And the way Madhuri had danced...Whao!!!
3.Rangeela Re[Rangeela-1995] -This song was a very difficult song to choreograph.It had an excellent music by A.R Rahman[the genius] and it had such fast beats that one just couldn't think of steps for it.But Ahmed Khan did a wonderful job with this song and it created magic.Urmila Matondkar had also danced very well.Excellent choreography.Hats off to Ahmed Khan.
4.Chaiyya Chaiyya[Dil Se-1998] -This song was a masterpiece by Farha Khan. Making people dance together on top of a moving train is not an easy task.But she did it.Shah Rukh Khan(my favourite) also proved his dancing abilities with this song.It bagged loads of awards.IT DESERVED THEM!!!!!!
5.Nimbooda[Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam-1999] -Saroj Khan made the life of yet another actress after Madhuri Dixit.It was Aishwarya Rai.This song also had really very difficult steps but Ash did them perfectly.Another masterpiece by Saroj ji.
6.Kay Sara Sara[Pukar-2000]-This one was choreographed by the dancing master Prabhu Deva.Hey! Does this man have a backbone?I doubt.He is so flexible.Madhuri is also superb in this song.One just can't take their eyes off her.It also had an outstanding music by maestro A.R Rahman and was sung beautifully by Kavita Krishnamurthy.
7.Ek pal ka jeena[Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai-2000]- Farha Khan knew perfectly how to use the dancing abilities of Hritik Roshan.It shows in this song.Amazing choreography and a brilliant dance number by Hritik Roshan.(This song mede Hritik the heart throb of the nation at that time!]
8.Badi Mushkil[Lajja-2001] - This song was not famous as the others but was a superb one.Two best dancers of the industry[Madhuri Dixit and Manisha Koirala] dancing together on the beats of the industry's best choreographer[Saroj Khan].It had mind blowing steps and Manisha Koirala proved she can also dance.I personally feel that on comparing Madhuri and Ash in Dola re Dola and Madhuri and Manisha in this number,this one was much better performed had much more difficult steps.Aishwarya learns and dances but Madhuri and Manisha are natural.
9.Dil Dhak Dhak[Beta -1992]- This song made Madhuri what she is today.It made a firm place for Madhuri in the hearts of the Indian public.No doubt that it was very well done.(both choreography and dancing).The screen chemistry of Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit was absolutely fantastic.One of the bests of Saroj Khan.
10.Radha Kaise na Jale[Lagaan-2001]- Another Saroj Khan number.This film that made it into the oscars had everything in it.This song had outstanding music[A.R.Rahman won a national award for this movie]and choreography.Beautifully done by Aamir and Gracy.Gracy Singh was just perfect as Radha in this one.
{NOTE- I did not mention the songs of Devdas above because they do not need to be mentioned.They are just outstanding and leave you speechless.I just don't have words to appreciate its choreography. Flabbergasting!}
