I have been using Tata Indicom Wimax connection for last 2.5 months, recently Tata has upgraded my plan to infinity 384 Kbps . Connection reliability is very good, Speed is also excellent. I have tested the speed on multiple speed testing sites . Speed is around 380+KBPS at all times. I am really satisfied with there service.

OnĀ  hitch is that you have to keep the modem on all times to avoid delay in connting to base site.

I got a Tata Indicom Wimax connection

installed last week and it has been working quite well so far .

My package is 256 infinity and all the speed

tests show a download speed of 240+ though the upload is slower more in the 150

  • range. I Choose a post-paid plan in which U pay advance rental for 4 months,

your Installation and Security Deposit will be waived+ You get 2 Months of

FREE broadband. I have got a good response from their support center clarifying

all my queries and also got calls from them inquiring about quality of

installation etc.

Overall a good experience till now. I have

seen a lot of connectivity breaks being reported by people in various forums

and my guess most of them are because of a weak signal. I would suggest people

to follow the following procedures while installing to avoid such issues

  1. Ensure that the engineer who comes for

installation checks for signal strength for all the possible towers near your

area. Also since wimax is directional(unlike a mobile tower) even the

orientation is important.

  1. Ensure that the antenna is installed as

high as possible and pointing to a direction where there are minimum

obstructions(mostly buildings & trees/hills)

3.

Check the signal strength of your connection. Ask your engineer to show you how

to do that. Pretty easy to do just telnet 192.168.1.1(login with a default

login pass which your engineer will let you know). And do a "sh bs".

This show you the signal strength which should be 20+ for good connectivity.

Though your engineer might say 16+ is good

ensure its 20+. Mine is 26 and I have downloaded quite a bit with no

connectivity issues. Hope you guys take care of the following tips & enjoy
