Started of with a huge hoarding that promised 2.1Mbps rocket speed and unlimited download(with a rocket illustration in the hoarding print). I didn't expect much and would settle for 1Mbps. Well it was really 2.1Mbps or better ....for a week. Then they "capped" it to 512kbps with unlimited download. That was 5 years ago.
Come 2011 and they sent an email to every old photon plus user, that since they have greased the palms of government to allow their capitalism to take over customer interests, they have the right now to "cap" (aka reduce) bandwidth to just 512kbps with a limit of 5GB down/uploads per "monthly cycle". This immediately compelled me to move to a lower plan of Rs.1000 pm from the usual Rs.1500 p.m. which the company seems eager to eradicate, either because wholesale bandwidth costs have risen or because they want to accrue more profits from an existing bandwidth.
I really wanted to get tongue in cheek with this company and tell them that since they have "limits" per monthly cycle now that may be construed as cheating and going back on one's word from the 2.1Mbps to provide us with just a meagre 125Mbps and a download limit, they might just as well make their service work for only the three days any woman might need in a month like any other monthly cycle we know of. I protested to some Borbora at 9207047811 and the guy at the other end, ended up repeating the familiar crap he has been programmed to say by Ratan Tata - "Please call our number at customer service for further assistance". The auto voice response(AVR) at customer service apparently spoke to me in some bushwhack dialect of folks inhabiting the island of Tonga, because apparently the people at Tata Indicom handling the North East offices do not speak English enough to have it in their AVR.
I knew I was bleeding from the a**hole, with this one. These folks and Mr.Tata are effing customers left and right as that video suggests.
PS:- I delayed paying my Photon bill this month and guess what happened? TI capped my bandwidth to just 5kbps and even after paying them last few days haven't restored my bandwidth back to the shitty 155kbps so I am watching my toenails grow as I submit this whiny review to mouthshut. Just because Mr.Ratan Telecom ministers doesn't mean he can eff small customers like us now, or can he? Does Tata Telecom's bad luck in being discriminated in the spectrum market mean that Tata can pass his bad luck on to customers?
Oops. I forgot. He's a wee busy retracting "poor man's car" statements on TV these days so the Nano can sell better now, right??.
