I am a user of Tata Indicom Broadband (Explorer plan, 256kbps, 500 MB traffic) in Bangalore from past couple days and have been having many issues with the same, follows couple of problems what I had and would serve as an Input before you decide with Tata Indicom's Broadband.
Once the application was submitted, there was no communication of any sort till 15 + days, nor does Customer care really care about tracking the status and giving approximate dates of connection.
After I got connection, first few days were fine, then I start observing that their server goes down every now and then in the midst of browsing/downloading. And there is just no control for this, I see this every now and then.
It is not really a broadband, my experience is I have never got more then 20-25 kbps of speed. (I have a 256 kbps link)
When it comes to billing, they are cheaters!!!, the second day of usgae I see a usage of 150+ MB, when I have used the connection for not more then ~15 MB. This was obsolutely wrong billing. I did raise a complaint, to which Customer service came back after couple of emails and phones telling I have a problem with my computer and there may be some Virus which is creating this! This is rediculous, just not possible as I have a legal version of Latest Antivirus from leading Vendor and I just cant agree for this. Anyway I thought I will neglect this and continued usage for couple of more days.
One fine day, I see a usage of 350+ MB of usage which just amazed me, which is again obsolutely rubbish. I was using the connection for just an hour on that particular day, and with the kind of speeds I get, it is just IMPOSSIBLE that I used it for 350MB worth traffic.
