It is a small joint which has opened in the recent past. I decided to give it a try one day and have done so quite a few times since. This is my opinion about it.
Location & Ambience:
It is located in Koramangala 7th block, at a small turning near Jyothinivas bus stop. Not overtly conspicuous, it’s essentially just a small room with a kitchen behind it. One of the walls is interestingly done up w.r.t. the tiles with a small basin at one end of the opposite wall and there's a counter at the other end of an adjacent remaining wall. There are some tables extending out into the terrace as well.
Food:
Their menu is also quite brief and the variety is there but obviously a small menu would have small variety. They have non-vegetarian and vegetarian items along with some beverages.
Among the non-vegetarian starters, “Bukhni Murgh Masala” is a an offering of chicken with bone with Kashmir chilli powder, among other things. “Mirch Masala Murgh Tikke” is supposed to be the most spicy item, but I’ve never given it a shot. Apparently, it also has dry pieces of chilli. “Vilayti Murgh Kebab” is a very tasty offering with black salt and some chilli powder. There is also “Hara Masala Murgh Tikke” and “Chilli Chicken”, for those interested. Also, “Champaran Matka Mutton”, ‘Champaran’ being a spicy special variant here.
One also has all these same flavour dishes in the vegetarian starters list with the option of mushroom or paneer. Additionally, there are also some aloo dishes. I’ve tried the vegetarian items on a few occasions and found it to be quite ok. But maybe the non-vegetarian items are a tad better here, as of today. Just my thought!
The main course items are also like gravy variants of the starters, although not exactly. But similar. There is “Champaran Chicken Masala” which comprises of onion paste, Kashmir chilli powder, and some other spices and comes across as khatta-spicy in taste. “Paanchali Murgh” is another chicken main course offering which is moderately spicy, also with onion paste. It also uses chilli powder but doesn’t come across as that spicy. There is “Sagwala Murgh” with palak gravy and “Teekha Murgh Masala”, which like it’s counterpart in starters section, is supposed to be quite spicy. “Makkhan Murgh” has kaju paste which is why it does not come across as spicy. There is also the option of “Champaran” and “Sagwala” mutton variants and egg curry and bhurji, if one desires.
There are various naans and paranthas also available here. I like the “lacchha parantha” here. There is option of rice and raitha and some beverages like butter milk, soda and cooler.
They have quite a few combo meal choices here with the items they have although I haven’t really given that a try. But it’s a mix and match of the same items mentioned above.
Prices:
Being a small joint with a small brand and small variety, the food items are understandably moderately priced. No qualms with that. For the food it offers, it seems adequate.
Service:
The service is reasonably prompt and the staff are quite interactive and willing to give you their time, if necessary.
Highlights / Points to Note:
1) I think the food variety as of today is small but I learnt they have plans of expanding the menu in future.
2) In their own way and scope, what they offer is decent.
3) They are currently closed on Sundays. I’m not sure why. They mentioned they might consider being open on Sundays in future.
To conclude, I’d say it is a decent low profile dine in place, but quite satisfactory within its limitations. I think I would give it 3.5 / 5 in its category of restaurants.
