Sterling resorts in Goa is located at the northern part of Goa, at a place called as Vagotor. Vagotor village is about 10 Kms from a junction called as Mapusa.

How to reach Sterling resorts, Vagator?:

The best way would be reach main junction Mapusa and from here you have several

options like Bike taxi, Autorickshaw, taxi-cars, private and govt buses.

We were travelling from Bangalore in the convenient Chennai-B'lore-Vasco express.

Vasco express leaves B'lore(Yeshwanthpur terminal) at 9.15 PM and reaches Vasco

at 12.50 PM next day. As most of the hostels have 12 noon checkins - this is a better

option as we dont have to wait to get our rooms after reaching the hotel or landup paying extra

for the previous day.

Just outside Vasco railway station you get prepaid taxi to reach Vagotor. Also there are

several private taxi operators who stand on the platform itself to pick up the passengers.

No need to worry about booking a taxi in advance. We paid INR 900/- for Qualis with AC.

If it is non-AC, then the fare would be 700/- from the Vasco RS to Sterling resorts, Vagotor.

Never forget to bargain.

Now about our experience at Sterling resorts, Vagator:

The checkin was smooth and I had booked an apartment type accomodation which had a air conditioned bedroom, kitchen with all amenities, and a large hall with Sofa-cum-bed.

It came as a shock when they informed us that the AC is available only in the bedroom and that there wont be any power to air-conditoner between 6.30 PM to 10.30 PM.

As we explored further - we observed that the resort is over due for renovation.

Even inside the apartment - the sofa-cum-bed placed in the hall was stinking of

rubber and indicated the detoriarating condition of the resort.

Resort had a restuarant that had a bar counter and couple of table facing the garden.

Fortunately, the food served here was good and we were happy to try out various items.

Prices too were moderate and quantities were generous. Staff too were courteuos and friendly. My appreciation to them.

After the second day - our apartment started to give electic shocks whenever we touch the water tap.

It was a nightmare experience. We were shown alternate accomodation that were pathetic and very

conjested. I am sure it would have been a torture if I had opted to stay in them. Fortunately, we

were shifted to an apartment in the same block after due verification of electrical system. Soon other apartments too started to get this electric shock and finaly they diagnOsed that whenever they switched on the pump near a well there was grounding in some of the apartments.

I decided that I am never going to step into Sterling resorts -Goa - ever in my life! we had enough of shocks to be remembered.

Some best part of this resort is its proximity to the Vagator beach and the Fort .

The Best part of Vagotor is the safe beach and scenic location with a backdrop of a ruins of a fort. Not much of commercial shanty restuarants or nagging vendors.  It is certainly a pleasure to sit on the beach and watch the sun set or for the early morning walks. It was a memorable visit indeed.

There were some rock formation on the beach that breaks the gush sea waves and it is an experenice by itself to sit on this rock and enjoy the cool breeze and getting splashed by the sea waves.

Swiming pool was well maintained and life guard attending to people is one of the positive points of this hotel. Kids pool too is very  nice and I had seen lots of kids playing and swimming.

Just outside the resort there is a small grocery shop where you can buy your groceries as well as other small items that you might have forgotten to carry with you. Taxis too are available. It is better to bargain the price before commencing the journey. They simply over quote the price.

Some of the indicative prices are as below:

  1. Sterling to Mapusa market and back with one hour waiting: INR 300/-

  2. Sterling to Mapusa market(drop only)= INR 175/-

  3. Sterling to Anjuna beach, St.Francis Xavier's church and return, including waiting charges for 3 hours=900/-

  4. Full day South Goa trip and back to sterling covering 7 must see location= 900/-

  5. Sterling to Vasco railway station(Maruti Van)= INR 750/-

Will I visit Sterling resorts at Vagator - I guess NOT!
