State Bank of India is one of India's largest(second now due to its non-performing assets), oldest and most trusted banks. It has the largest number of branches spread across the country, as well as the most ATMs. If there is a candidate for India's National Bank, State Bank of India would probably be it. In spite of all that, I would like to make the case that it is, in fact, not as good as it is made out to be.
SBI has possibly the worst customer treatment credentials of all the banks in India, It's employees behave like government babus we all should be thankful to for their service. The simplest of work, that takes hardly minutes in any other bank, requires you to wait for hours when you try to get it done at SBI. Loans, Credit Cards take an unusual amount of time, which is ironical knowing how it suffers from bad loans. If you want an internet banking account, you better be prepared to wait for a week. They make you write applications, in addition to forms they have for various purposes. A demand draft takes you all morning, because the babus can't be bothered to give up on their endless tea sessions.
I also have an issue with SBI not allowing you to use your account to add money to wallets like freecharge, paytm.
