State Bank Of India. Review on State Bank Of India

I opened an account with this bank after reading all the positive reviews on this site. I thought it is a govt bank so what could go wrong. Prices for services would probably be reasonable and cheaper then others. I thought wrong. Here are the positives first:

1. They have branches all over the country.

   
   




2. They have lots of ATMs all over the country.

   
   




3. They have an internet presence.

   
   




4. You can make ppf payments online.

   
   




5. well, thats about it. Here are the surprises:

   
   




6. They charge for cheques. You dont get free anything anytime. YOu pay 2.50 for each MICR cheque. 2. I know what you are thinking here: "I will use the online transfer facility, who needs cheque anyways". Well, think again. Online Transfers cost Rs5. Thats right Rs 5 for each online EFT transaction.

   
   




7. You cannot open a multideposit ie. convert part of your savings account to a f.d. and then break it online if needed.

   
   




8. Their call centre is really sad. The guys dont know much about anything. You are better off approaching the branch for any service.
