My 64-year-old mother fell in the bathroom unconscious and I admitted her to Apollo hospital. Cashless was denied. After 3-day treatment and discharge, I submitted all original documents for reimbursement. Then also this company denied saying that I didn't disclose colon cancer while taking the policy in March 2019.
1.Terminal stage Colon cancer was detected in April-May 2019, after taking the policy. None of our family members had clue that cancer was there. It was a big surprise for us all. I can write an affidavit and submit if required. But don't call me dishonest and deny my claim with that excuse. Stage 4 cancer means the cancer was present in the body for the past 2-3 years perhaps. But we conducted a cancer-specific diagnosis and detected it in April-May 2019. Disease present and detection via diagnosis are two different bus stops in the timeline. And I am honestly saying, we didn't know before taking the policy.
2.With that excuse, this company sent me a letter stating that my current policy itself is void. Not eligible for any renewals in the future. Simultaneously I am also receiving calls from their agents to renew. I told the agents that my claim is rejected, colon cancer conflict. Still, they are calling and sending me an email. I have proof of calls recorded and emails sent. What is the integrity of this company?
3.My mother fell for the first time in a lifetime. Even medically it is not proven if colon cancer was the cause, in her case and in general also. She never fell from May 2019, after diagnosed with colon cancer stage 4. Still, they rejected such a lame excuse based on the opinion of the medical panel of Star company.
4.I disclosed all the ailments while taking the policy. Honesty to my best. I even asked if any medical report is required. The agent said no. I saved that SMS as proof till now. At least if I conducted any such tests and came to know about cancer, my first step would be to treat my mother. This is the first time in my life I took medical insurance for anyone in our family and will be last, with star health in particular after this experience
But I will go for court and fully fight for justice. Because you have given a very lame excuse and called me dishonest, tainting my character. Already posted in consumer affair helpline and will approach ombudsmen also.
