I was a student of this College for 2 yrs only, from 1993-94 as I had to leave midway due to health issues. Though I did not finish College here, I did spent two memorable years of my life in this prestigious Jesuit Institution. Along the way in this college I made many friends who continue to be friends even today. The college was founded in 1860 and therefore is over 150 yrs old. I was a part of the Political Science UG course headed by Prof. Guha. The Vice-Principal during those days was Father Pat Eton a liberal as well as a semi-strict person. There were 2 hostels, one located inside the campus at Park Street and the other located at Lower Circular road. As the campus hostel was full I was staying at the outer hostel. Those days there were only a few UG courses besides Political Science like:
Department of Commerce(B. Com.)
Department of English(B.A.)
Department of Economics(B.Sc.)
Department of Physics(B.Sc.)
Department of Chemistry(B.Sc.)
Nowadays other departments have also come up to meet the requirements of the current times like:

Department of Mathematics(B.Sc.)
Department of Statistics(B.Sc.)
Bachelor of Business Administration
The Lower Circular road hostel where I got my accommodation was headed by Mr. Hora Ram who was the hostel Superintendent. This is where I stayed for two years. The 1st year there was quite a bit of ragging which I helped eliminate subsequently. One must also be ready to have fish curry everyday which is the staple diet for the Bengalies. We changed this scenario in the 2nd year once one of my roommates became the Store-In-Charge.
During the 2 years that I was there in this college I attended XAVOTSAV, the annual College festival twice. It is a cultural event where colleges from across India participate in Band Performance, Neon Dance, Western Dance, Singing etc. A student of this college gets an exposure to not only great academics but also gets an opportunity to develop one’s personality by participating in various events & activities which are conducted throughout the year in this institution. This institute is one of the best colleges in India and students in the region can take advantage of its courses and learn to be better citizens of the country.
