This purports to be a review of the indian state of West Bengal. Its one of the smaller states in india in terms of size. However it has a rich cultural heritage and much else.WB has 19 districts in all. These districts lie in various regions that include scenic hill stations(Drajeeling, Kalimpong), seaside resorts(Digha) as well as the mighty Sunderbans.
The hills have all the beauty whereas the Sunderbans is home to the truly Royal Bengal Tiger.WB has a lot of traditional arts and crafts-there are the textiles, the temples and there is kantha-stitching to just name a few. Most places are well-connected by road and rail. However, if you must visit WB start from Calcutta. It is a former national capital and also WB's capital.Calcutta is one of india's largest cities and is often called its cultural capital.Check out the group theatre performances, art galleries and the College Street Book Market. But to go back to WB there are other places to visit here.
Shantiniketan for instance. This is where Tagore, the nobel laureate lived and worked. But the best season to come to West Bengal is right now.The festive season has just begun and teverywhere he pageantry is great. The climate is neither hot nor cold and the shopping(for those who have money) is awesome.Well, what are you waiting for?Pack your bags and head for a great cultural and social experience in the indian state of West Bengal.
