Spencer is one of the two ubiquitous departmental stores in Visakhapatnam.
This is one city with fewer kirana shops than usually seen in cities, so the requirement for Spencer like places.
This is not a bargain store. Though most of the stuff you need is available here, you have limited choice only, the price to pay for convenience.
I got a rude reminder the other day of the impersonalism of such stores, when I found that they had been packaging ladies fingers in polythene bags because it was of a variety which has prickly skin. Usually this vegetable is sold loose. I only discovered when I was home. Did not have the energy to go back and return it.
Shop at Spencers only if you need to , look for a bargain shop near your locality. Shop for vegetables at veg markets.
