Caught the latest Bond movie last week.  Considering all the hype built up and the rave reviews all around, I went there expecting a real delightful viewing, but sorry to state, was sorely dissappointed, to say the least.

It opened of fairly well with the usual Bond heroics scene.then the chase and the helicopter stunt in the crowded town square too was staple Bond stuff.

Thereafter, it went downhill all the way. The screenplay was very, very loose and the Bond villain, inconsequential.  I mean, Bond isn't called in to prevent a stadium from getting blown up.  He is called to save the world!

A lot has been discussed in the media about the lack of steamy scenes and all and how this one is a'sanskari' Bond.but for me, the Bond women(yes, women as they ain't girls this time around) paled in comparison with their predecessors.  Monica while pretty in her own way, wasn't upto scratch, while the French blonde with an unpronounceable name was horrible in close ups.

More than the lack of sizzle, there were very little or no gizmos that were another staple in all Bond movies.'M' has died so we have a new incumbent(Ralph Fiennes), 'Q' too has been retired and replaced by a young nerd.

Christoph Waltz who was superb in "django Unchained' has very little to do here.  Doesn't have the script in his stead to be a strong adversary to Bond. With a running time of a little over 2hrs, the movie plods along with a lot of slowwwww scenes, which lull you to sleep.

Even Bond's trademark one liners are missing.

The only saving grace, as I see it, was when towards the climax, 'M' confronts the usurper mole, the dialogues goes something like this, "M for moron'  to which he counters with a very kiddish'C for .(pause) careless'.  Now I could think of a ready word that starts with'C' here and which was guaranteed to bring the house down just that once, but would nver have passed muster with Mr. Pehle Nahi Hilana, so there.

Seen in isolation, probably would have rated a 3 but given the build up and expecations, sorry to say, but can rate a max 2.

Watch if you must; won't miss anything at all if you don't and wait for it to show on TV or DVD.
