I bought this TV in October 2007 on exchanging it with a Philips 21" 1.5 years old TV. The Philips Vardaan was a very 'buggy' system. Hence I threw it.
My experience with this new Sony Wega 2.0 AZ series is marvellous!
The Picture Quality: brightness, contrast, sharpness are superb. It has a 65 Hz frame rate whereas the normal ones have 50 to 55 Hz frame rate. This gives the best picture quality amongst all Sony 21" TVs.
The VM ( a modulation scheme) feature gives you the sharpest picture. I displayed my Kodak 7.1 MP camera's output on this TV. Trust me, the edges were so sharp and you could make out each and every hair on a person's skin. The colour, brightness, contrast were absoulutely amazing. The same images I had displayed on earlier Philips. The difference is so much! Even my 22" Dell high resolution monitor could not display such vivid, crisp and sharp image.!
Then comes signal modulation--helps you get the best image and sound output even when the signal strength is less.
Sound is also great. Though not fitted with a subwoofer, but has 25W speakers. Sounds much clearer and louder than my old Philips 100W speakers. You have Trusurround, Simulated, Wow with preset equalizers. It is a surround sound.
FM Radio is also present, but I never use it.
This was the Award Winning Model because it was the sharpest TV present even amongst Sony's other models. Other Brands just can't make up to Sony's reputation.
This TV can be operated directly from the remote controller of my Sony Hi-Fi DVD system. So you handle only one remote while watching movies. Great. Same with other sony tvs.
If you are going forĀ a 21" Sony, buy this model. This comes in two versions: with woofer and without woofers. You will not need woofers if you have a good Hi-Fi. In other 29" or more Sony CRT, at least confirm that the frame rate is 65 Hz like this one and that has VM.
Con: TWO:
1.)
The VM feature makes the picture very very sharp. So, if the signal is weak, the sharpness make the picture look worse than any other Sony or other Brand TV. But no problem: Because VM can be operated in 3 stages: High, Medium, Low and OFF. So switch it off. Cheers!
2.) If the sound signal is weak, the front tweeters flutter for high frequency sounds. It makes the sound output really bad.
