Feature rich slow coach. Review on Sony Ericsson T230

I was looking at a colour phone which had MMS, GPRS, polyphonic tone which didn't burn my purse... I found this . Good to have as your first phone. I bought this phone 1 year back for 5k. (it is priced at a little over 3 k now).

I'll go through the main features.

Phone book: - Enough space

a)Good memory - 250 contacts (each contact has a work phone no, mob phone no, House phone number and a email ) ==> Enough memory by any strech of imagination.

b) Personalised Ringtone/ Picture available.

Features: - SMS/MMS - Good features

SMS - approx 70 sms memory (including sent items/unsent items...)

The phone shows you the number of characters left in a sms (max 70 chars..extendable). It gives you an option to send long messages (Charged as multi sms rate by your operator)

MMS - Capacity is part of entire phone memory (1140 mb ..for pics/ games/ themes...) more than enough unless u download a lot of big games. I have downloaded a couple of games/ numerous ringtones/ pictures.

GRPS

You can connect to the net (Wap sites) with this phone. Performance is slow though. Takes a lot of time to download games.

Not possible to connect to net through PC.

Calls: - Good features

Contains call list/minutes of last call/ total minutes (Useful as I have a post paid plan with 100 min free/month ...helps me to keep it within the mins)

Sound quality - good.

Display and sound:

4k colour - Pics are not great (when compared to a similar nokia phone) but at its price this would do.

Sound quality is really good - Inbuilt poly phonic ringtones are really good (Sony rules in sound quality)

Battery:

Nothing great, you have to charge it once in 2/3 days if you are a normal user.

For heavy users, charging it daily may be necessary (I guess it is the same with all non Nokia phones)... but I never considered this as a big drawback.

Games

Two excellent inbuilt games, I downloaded a few more games from sony ercsn wap site. (Don't dowload lots of big games, this will take a lot of memory space)

Sturdy

I drop my phone in the office/ home atleast once in two days. Still nothing has happened. This is a big plus.

Big Drawback

Guess sony loaded a lot of features into a very ordinary processor. The phone is very slow (Menu navigation/making calls...) esp. after the memory reaches its maximum.

Features not supported

IR, GPRS via your computer, Bluetooth. (Guess nobody will give you this for 3k+)

If you are ready to ignore this drawback... this is 'The' phone for you.
