GHAJINI, WANTED, DABANGG, SINGHAM....That is right. If you liked Ghajini, Wanted & Debang, Singham is a must watch for you. If you didn't like them Singham is not for you. No compromise tribute to the G-olden era action movies Singham arrives to entertain all masala movie lovers with powerful action, dialogues and style.

It is a story of another fight between good and evil. It is yet another war between an honest police officer (Ajay Devgan) and a Goonda turned politician (Prakash Raj) Villain. The police officer assembles the general public in his favour where the Goonda gets the full support of politicians, administration and higher police officers. The fight is on!

The best part of the movie is its no compromise determination to provide masala action entertainment. To the merrit of the writers, they have created a powerful villain and an equally powerful hero. The fight of equals - that is what we enjoys the best, and that is where Singham scores a point extra. Dialogues are another major plus for Singham. One to one, Hero ya villain the dialogue writers made merry of each situation to the highest for the delight of the audience.

Remake of Tamil movie Singham, Rohit Shetty tries maximum to enhance the action factor and in the process overdo it to take off some part of the fun. The movie is more tempted to be Cartoonish in nature, the CID Moosa kind. However, for Mr. Shetty's credit he didn't attempt to deviate much from the 'original' and retains the success factors intact.

When two national award winning actors comes face to face, sparks are bound to be there. Ajay Devgan & Prakash Raj! Both gets equally powerful characters and both of them gives out equally brilliant performance. Ajay Devgan is back with a ROAR and more! He is rock solid, young and still happening, that too in style! Prakash Raj is a bundle of talent still unexplored. Even if it is a small role or big role he always does justice to it in style. So is in Singham, he suites the perfect HUNTER! Kajol Agarwal get side lined though she is the heroine (thanks to the two big mountains of talents fight each other) but Kajol brings a lot of freshness to the girl next door character. The supporting cast, one and all did their roles well.

Cinematography by Dubley is adequate.

Music gets not much importance in the film. The two romantic numbers are the ones which got my attention, still they are anything but average to good. Choreography is ok, but they failed to make use of the vast resource seems consumed for the picturisation. It is noted for the excessive presence of people and lights but lacks creativity from the word go. Back ground scores, especially the songs in the background were quite impressive.

Editing is one section which could have made the film's effect a bit better. Even it could have been trimmed by some 10 minutes without deleting even a scene but the film lacks a crisp editor. As such the editing is just average, failing to create any impact.

Action is one department which worth special mention. Powerful is the word to describe it. Even in its abundance, the efforts taken are visible and will be one of the selling points of the film. Applauds!

So what is the summary?

On the plus side, the film has powerful performance by Ajay Devgan & Prakash Raj and a good performance by rest of the cast, a tailor made story which retains equally powerful villain to the hero, action scenes go all the way to create an impression, background scores which maintains and raises the tempo as required, excellent dialogues, style and more style. A super climax with a pack of fun in it is yet another highlight of the movie which works for the film in a big way.

On the minus side, the execution of romance was too shallow. The romance doesn't happen after the initial scenes and later when the story tries to bring it (as if otherwise we will forget) it works as a distraction from the central plot. Overdoing of action and style has nearly made the scenes cartoonish in many scenes. Editing could have been much better and the film could have been 15 minutes shorter for better impact.

Overall, SINGHAM is all what it is promised in the promos nothing short of it. An action masala entertainer, SINGHAM is recommended for the target audience, i.e the masses.

My rating: 3.5 stars (1 star exclusively for Ajay Devgan & Prakash Raj, equally divided).
