Today I had an amazing lunch with 2 of my friends at Sigree Global Grill located at Powai, Mumbai. So it is only fair that I put its review out here for all of you to refer to!

Caution: Read this review only with a full stomach, otherwise it might make you hungry!

Sigree Global Grill is a well known restaurant chain which is famous for its lavish and delicious buffets and serves cuisines like North Indian, Turkish, Lebanese and Greek.

We did not make a prior reservation and it was prime lunch time when we reached the restaurant. As expected, it was already jam packed, but we were informed that the waiting time was between 20-30 minutes so we decided to wait.

You cannot expect this good a restaurant to be empty on a Sunday.

And indeed, within 30 minutes we were ushered to our table.

The rest of the experience needs some formatted structure, so I shall divide it into sections:

Staff: The table manger was courteous and all business! The servers were quick and efficient and kept checking our table if we wanted anything. Good service!

Ambiance: The ambiance and decor was subtle yet classy. It has dark brown and wood finish interiors but was sufficiently lit for you to see and enjoy your meal in all its glory. The furniture is nice and comfortable. The whole place had a cosy and welcoming feel to it.

And, let me warn you, you will not even bother about these things once you start eating your meal.

Crowd: Crowd was a mix of old and new, cool and unique! There were families sitting and enjoying their meals together, there were couples too who had come to share a delicious meal and then there were groups of friends like us who wanted a hearty and fulfilling meal.

Menu: It's a buffet format restaurant so there are fixed menus for lunch and dinner and you can eat all of them as much as you want. You will be given with framed menu so you can see what all you can expect in the buffet!

Unique element: The first thing they did was to put a sigree in the middle of the table. There is a nice frame inbuilt at the center of the table to hold the sigree and still keep your food at the table level.

Now you will ask why did they do that? Well those of you who have been to BBQnation will know its purpose. It is to keep your seenkh-kebabs hot while you are eating them.

The starters and appetizers are brought to your table and served endlessly to you, as long as you don't ask them to stop.

There is a 2-colored(red-green) striker kept on your table and you are supposed to keep the red side up once you do not want to serve anymore starters.

For main course and desserts, you have to go and fill your plates with whatever you want, as much as you want and as many times as you want.

We were 3 people so we made 2 non-veg and 1 veg platter order.

Let me further break down our meal into different courses to you:

Starters: They were the highlight of the entire meal and they were simply delicious. Their kebabs are succulent and nicely spiced and grilled to perfection.

They just melt in your mouth and burst into flavors, each one of them having their own unique taste and aroma.

There were seenkh-kebabs of many varieties which coming after each other.

You will be endlessly served with different type of chicken kebabs, prawns, fish, paneer, mushroom, baby corns, potatoes and other vegetables.

You are also served with a platter of many carbohydrate based munchies with different kind of dips. They added a nice variation in the texture of the food and you could use the bread  to cleanse my palette before trying new dishes.

We were also served with steaming hot dim-sums and wontons and fish-cooked-in-banana leaf.

They appetizers are so good that you just cannot stop eating them, we ordered 2-3 rounds of each of the types and still felt like eating more but we still had 2 courses left so we requested the server to stop serving us with starters!

Drinks: There is a separate drinks menu and by the looks of it, they had fully stocked bar too and were serving to guests who ordered. We did not order any drinks but were served with apple cider as part of the buffet.

Main course: By now we were already on the verge of being full, but we still took little of everything to taste. There were veg and non-veg biryanis and pulaos which were delicious. Then there were different chicken dishes in curry and roast formats. There was also a greek mixed vegetable dish and you had option to choose the kind of bread/roti you wanted.

Everything was hot and fresh. There were alot of other side dishes like salad, raita, various types of chutney, sauces and pickles.

Main course items were all great but could only be a dull shadow of the awesome starters!

Dessert: If the starters were the highlight then desserts were the worthy climax. There were 4-5 types of mousse served in small shot glasses and cups, all of them were great. Then there was piping hot chocolate mud-pie. There were also sandesh, cakes, fruit -cubes, 3 flavors of ice-cream and so much more.

Each one of us brought a plate full of desserts to our tables and enjoyed them peacefully. Due to their size, which was worth only 2-3 spoons each, we could eat and enjoy all of them. They all were light as air and adequately sweet. None of the flavors were bad or even average tasting. All of the items in desserts were simply great. It will definitely bring you a cheerfull grin to your face!

Price: It costs more on weekends but it was totally worth every single rupee we paid. If we would have ordered all those items individually and in same quantities that we ate, the bill would have been atleast double.

Verdict: All in all it was a great experience and gave us a memorable meal, one of the best I had in recent times. If you are in Powai area during lunch and dinner hours then you have to try it! Come with empty stomach, alot of time at your hand and loose pants!

Must visit!
