Finally, a cool book by Robert Ludlum. I have read many of his books and it seemed that he keeps on writing spy-thrillers and same kinds of books. But after reading this one all of my misconceptions have been cleared.
The beginning is the same Ludlum stuff action, chases, murders, investigations but this time his story is interesting. It deals about a mystery dating back to World War II.
The hero has gone for holiday in Switzerland where he meets his very old friend on a sidewalk. As they come close to each other, the friend takes out a gun and tries to shoot the hero. Somehow he runs and there is a fight and in the end the friend gets shot by his own gun. When the hero reports this to the police and takes them to the dead body it is vanished there is no trace of a killing instead the police arrests the hero because his friend’s gun is found in his bag. And then he is on a run.
On the other side of the story, the lead female character, which is a detective is handed a mysterious case. She has to investigate the deaths of very old men who are related by a single world Sigma. It turns out that Sigma is a World War II organization, which is up to something.
What is it up to, is the big secret. Why does someone want to kill an innocent man is also a secret. And both the secrets are related to Sigma. Read the book to find the secret and I’m sure you’ll find it amazing.
The story is well told but gets a little stretched in the middle. But the end is incredible. It can also be called unimaginable.
The style of writing of this author is gripping. His description of action is unique. He makes you open your mouth with surprise with his unpredicted twists. He writes books in a James Bond movie style.
I would recommend this book to those who like action, suspense and thrill.
Hope to hear from you.
