Just bought the siemens c55 and the first thing that would strike you when handling the phone is its size. its quite small and the keypads are too near to each other and of course this means that there's always the possibility of miss-hitting the keypads. however, my fingers and hands have adapted to c55's size after a few days of using it.
its a good buy however, considering the following phone features which I like:
blue backlight, which is very restful to the eyes and bright enough to use during blackouts for looking for candles and matches :)
novel sounds and animations/pictures: the rooster and cat .wav sounds are funny and I also like the fact that we can put a picture/animation per contact
security features: the password requirement for the screensaver and the confidential option for the notes (in the organizer menu) are a welcome feature for privacy protection
groupings of contacts makes it easier for me to call or send a single SMS to many people
and the format option in writing the SMS messages makes it more personalize: it has highlight, underline, right-left-or-center justification and line feed options
the glow-in-the-dark cover is very very helpful in finding the phone inside my bag when im inside the theatre or in a dark room
and of course, the fact that it is capable of EMS (enhanced message sending) doesn't hurt either--you can fix an animation and/or sound clip to the sms you send out (although, only another siemens phone can download it)
on the other hand, the 3 less-than-great things about the phone are:
the audio is very low, even when the volume is set to full. I find it difficult to hear calls especially when the phone is in my bag
the phone automatically turns on the vibra-alert when I set the volumes for call and alarm to full, EVEN when I set the vibra-alert to off in the set-up menu for audio
the games are too limited and opening them are too slow
all in all, the phone is a good buy: good and useful features at very reasonably low price. now all I have to prove is the durability of the C55--although friends and relatives swear by its durability (it can withstand freefall and 3 year-old nieces). ill probably make another review of the fone after a few months or so on its durability.
but for now, im quite happy with the C55 and eyeing another siemens, the M55, for a second phone :)
