It all happened on 2nd November 1965 afternoon in Talwar Village Nursing Home in New Delhi. A healthy boy was born with the umbilical cord entangled around his neck. A nurse there then told it was the blessing from ‘Hanuman’ and this boy was going to create wonders. And yes the words from the nurse eventually turned out to be happening like a miracle and this boy was later known to the world as the ‘King Of Khans’.

After attending playschool near his home, he did his elementary education in St. Columba’s High School, New Delhi, run by Irish brothers. Shah was a naughty boy during his tweens as well as teens and had grown up receiving lot many spanks and punishments, which he now says as “pleasurable experiences”.

Shah relates ‘hindi’ as the subject he loathed the most. Well it didn’t put him long to love the subject when once his mother promised to take him for a hindi movie if he scored well for his upcoming hindi test. The enthusiasm to watch a movie in a theatre (till then which he hadn’t experienced), made him to work hard for the test and managed to score 10 on 10 for his test. Thus he enjoyed his first ever hindi movie in a movie hall. This brought him a change in the attitude towards the subject and he says that, what his mother had done, helped engrave the route for his life. He proudly says that his love for movies had begun since then and his command over the language helped him to make his film roles easier in the future.

Moving a little more into his school life, Shah says his favourite subject for A-levels was ‘Electronics’ and he was most weak in ‘Maths’. He childishly admits that he is still weak in numbers and he always keeps forgetting his official and residence phone numbers (he he… that reminds me of my mom). His favourite sports stars then were Socrates, Pele, Maradona and Mathheus (Thus it makes it clear that he loved football). English and especially Shakespeare was his other favourite. Shah’s favourite actress was Mumtaz. He always went crazy over her and enjoyed dancing on her numbers. He believes that nobody can move their hips as she does. But the song he loves the most is form a Shammi Kapoor movie, Brahmachari with lyrics that goes… “Chakke pe chakka, chakke mein gaadi, gaadi pe nikli apni sawari...”.

Talking about Shah’s dad, Mir Taj Mohammed was not very much like him. He was 6 feet 2, grey eyes and had brown hair. Shah and his dad shared a relation of strong friendship than that of a father-son relation. Although different physically Shah was lucky enough to adapt all qualities from his father. Shah has been blessed by his sense of humour form none other but his dad. He remembers calling out his dad ‘yaar’ more often than ‘papa’. He says his father was always absent minded and so is he. Shah tells that he never gets tired or worn out cause his dad always made work around the house like a game, which fortunately helped him out in his works in movies. Another thing which Shah’s dad taught him was to sort out his problems own his own rather than depending on others. His father believed in being ‘honest’ and imparted the very quality into Khan. Going on a holiday with dad was very rough and tough. He recalls traveling in crowded tempos, staying in uncomfortable hotels, and eating simple food. Shah never felt irritated about this fact because he knew this was the way of his father to make him realize the realities in life and to remain down-to-earth even if we can catch hold of the brightest star in the sky. His father died when he was only 15 of cancer and then their businesses where run by his mother.

Shah used to love reciting poems in Urudu. He fancied imagining lines on his own and his father encouraged him to think more. His father brought a book and jotted everything he recited. He still posses the book. He says once his father, left there was no one to write his verses and he slowly his talent got buried deep within as he had never studied to write Urudu.

As his school days came to an end, Shah wanted to switch over from science to commerce. Expecting to get admission from a so-called best institute with all the prestigious awards and certificates he received, it did not turn out to be as he wished. He understood that the top student of top school in Delhi was not good enough to be a part of the best college in Delhi, as the principal of the college commended. He did not lose hope and took admission from the first college that accepted him, thus he joined Hans Raj College, New Delhi for Economics. He worked hard enough to match with the ranking marks from the so-called best college, that had refused him. This was the time when he did his first T.V series : Fauji ,Dil Dariya and Circus. All these where rated high and Shah turned out to be a well known T.V star. Later he worked for Nukkad, Tamas, Yeh Jo Hai Zindgi , Buniyaad and Ummeed ,all shot in Bombay. In 1992 , Shah made his first entry into the great Bollywood industry through Raju Ben Gaya Gentleman , his on screen appearance which people received with both hands. But what really strengthened his image was Darr and Bazigar in 1993. Slowly Shah became more established as an actor and provided hits such as Karan-Arjun, Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Guddu, Koyla, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Badhshah, Kal Ho Na Ho etc. At present he is awating for the release of Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and is filming for Khazan, Don and Happy New Year.

Shahrukh a has also done a lot of adds on Pepsi, Mayur Suitings, Hyundai Santro, Cinthol Soap, Bagpiper, Clinic All Clear and even 100 more. At present Shah owns two production companies namely, Dreamz Unlimited and Red Chillies Entertainment. He got married to Gauri Chibber, a model on 25 October 1991 and are blessed with two lovely kids Aaryan (who made his debut as kid Shah in 'Kabhie Kushi Kabhie Gham') and Suhana. A strong chain smoker he is and recently acquired surgery for his back problems.

Shah's future needn't to be wished with any more luck as he's been blessed by gods above fulfilling all his ambitions and hardwork. Lets wait with all our hearts for the new charcters from 'The King Khan'...
