After reading her debut novel'Loosing virginity and other dumb ideas', am very fond of her vivid take on negotiating sexual space in today's insane social environments.
I was attracted by the title of this novel'Scandalous Housewives'. I love reading books while travelling to office from my home and vice versa so I went ahead and download its pdf version which was easily available over the internet.
Plot:
The story is based on Mumbai suburban colony, revolves around 4 Housewives - Gita, Sarita, Natasha and Arti each of whom fighting with their own demons. they called themselves'Lovely Ladies' and meet often in the park of Sapphire Towers where they gossip about their daily life. though they share a basic staffs and pretend to be closest friends but each one of them has their own secrets that they have hidden and reluctant to share but troubles start as soon as
As one of them get involved with kind brother in law.
Another lady hiding her son's paternity and husband's impotence.
Another has abusive husband
One lady came to know that her friend is having relationship her son.
One suspects her husband is having clandestine affair.
and so the list go on.
The first half of the book was very engaging but the second half started becoming exotic and erotic with the affairs and trysts coming up.
By the end all things are neatly tied up. I would recommend this book to people who like Indian modern literature. Though I personally feel that cover of the book doesn't do justice to the brilliant story, so please don't judge the book by its cover.
This is the second book I have read of Madhuri and I just loved it.
