Sourav Ganguly, the name should make bowlers fear. For this is one batsman who brings fear into any bowler.
He is a leader, who young cricketers respect. He puts faith into a lot of out of form young players and they respnd by playing good innings for him. He is a team-player, who was not afraid to give up his opener position as it suited the team, even thought that was his favoured position.
He does not fall down to sledging. The greatest example is when he dropped Steve Waugh in the legendary Kolkata Test, Waugh said to him 'You just dropped the test, mate.' That increased the hunger in Ganguly, and his decisions with bowlers that day brought an Indian win.
He is not afraid to speak his mind as he has done on countless occasions with opposition captains, particularly with Steve Waugh.
He is not just a batsman, but is also a useful bowler particularly in ODI's. He has played some of the scintilating innings in both ODI's and Test Matches, none more so than his 183 against Sri Lanka at the 99 World Cup.
